No Place Like Home is an adorable farming simulator by Chicken Launcher. This game was released in Early Access back in 2020, and it has been lovingly altered and updated ever since. The full release came around in March 2022, and anyone who hasn’t played this little gem in a while will be pleasantly surprised by all the lovely changes that the developers have made.
Here is a complete walkthrough of the game as of Update 1.0K_190 on March 29, 2022 and for Nintendo Switch. We also have you covered with our guide detailing much of what you need to know to enjoy the game to the max. Find that here.
Chapter 1: Grandpa’s Old Farm
Once all the trash is cleared from Grandpa’s old farm, Ellen should have a clean, single room house to sleep in, a trash recycler, two birdhouses, a decoration building bench, a food preserver, a small plot of fertile soil to plant veggies in, and a regular building bench. Inside all the boxes will earn Ellen enough recycled materials and preserved food to purchase an upgrade or two and build it.
By the time the entirety of the farm is cleaned up, players will have:
- Seeds: Potato, Tomato and Pumpkin seeds
- Access to Rudy for upgrades, to the Village, the Fast Travel doors, and one section of the underground
- Recipes: Basic Stuffed Pumpkin, Fried Egg, Tomato Soup, Fries with Ketchup, Animal Food, Mashed Potatoes.
All Quests in Grandpa’s Old Farm:

Welcome Home: In order to get started, look under the front porch of Ellen’s house. There will be a chicken wearing a red-and-white-striped hat, and he can help her get started on the farm.

“Wait a minute… I’m not a dummy!”: The book Farming for Dummies is located under the trash close to Grandpa’s House. Once players find it, they will need to bring it back to Cornelius, the talking chicken.
Feathery Friends: Players need to use the building bench near Grandpa’s house in order to build a basic chicken coop for some chickens. Once built, place it somewhere on the farm that is clean of trash and other items. There should be a few free chickens running around near the farm and in cages; free them and feed five of them each a potato to make friends. The chickens will walk or teleport over to the coop once fed. These chickens will also provide one egg a day so long as Ellen feeds and waters them.
Chicken Chef: In order to complete this task, Ellen will have to make her way to the Village and talk to Mark. He will sell her the blueprints for a basic kitchen for 5 Preserved Food and 2 Tomatoes. After building it, make some Pet Food. Any combination of food that doesn’t make a recipe that players have access to will turn into Pet Food, so make sure to shove as many veggies or eggs into the kitchen as possible to make as many Pet Foods at one time as you can.
Excuse Me, Mr Chicken: After building the coop, befriending chickens with potatoes, feeding them Pet Food, and making sure they are happy in their new little home, return to Sir Cornelius the Talking Chicken under the deck of Grandpa’s house.

Party Preparations: Look for fabric scraps around the farm under the trash. Bring these back to Cornelius, and he will make a chicken-sized hat. Players can name and dress their pets and livestock by walking up to the animal and pressing R.
Hats! Hats! Hats!: Put one of the hats that Ellen has found in the boxes around the farm or the hat that Cornelius made on a chicken, then report back to Cornelius under the deck.

Chicken Handyman: Look for clean glass around the farm under the trash and give it to Cornelius.
Chicken Disco Dance: Place the disco ball near the chicken coop and the chickens will party down.
Fowl Triumph: Once the disco party is over with, Cornelius will dub Ellen “Friend of Chickens” and give her the Friends of Chickens Trophy. This will be needed for a quest in the Village. The talking chicken will then be willing to tell Ellen everything he knows about her Grandfather, and he will leave his roost under the deck of Ellen’s home to start travelling again.

Llama Drama: Collect Old Wood and Rubble (Ellen will need the first upgrade to her drill to get Rubble), and fix up the Robot Llama home near Grandpa’s Old Home. Once it’s fixed, look for five robot llamas and feed them batteries. They will come and hang out in the llama home and collect materials for Ellen once there are five.

There is one underground location near Grandpa’s Farm. It is along the fence near the entrance to the Village. This underground area has four treasure chests, one of which is locked behind the Rubber Waste upgrade.
The Village
There is a lot to do in the Village, and Ellen will need to keep upgrading her tools and her shoes with Rudy in order to get it all done. Players will come across an apple tree, lettuce, eggplants, oats, peach trees, and even more potatoes and tomatoes and pumpkins as well. There are two main NPCs in the area; make sure to visit both Mark and Howard.
All Quests in the Village:

Oh! Hi Mark!: Find the NPC Mark right outside of the entrance to the village. He has a small shop that sells upgrades for some of the farming equipment.
An Apology to the Poultry: Remember that trophy of Chickeny Friendship that Sir Cornelius gave you for throwing the chickens a disco rave? Give that to Mark to prove you are now a friend of chickens.

Extreme Recultivation: Look around the Village for 15 trees that are covered in trash. They have to be torn down and replanted. Ellen will need acorns for this, but she should have plenty from the trash around Mark’s and Grandpa’s places. Replant them, and when they are full-grown, you can collect more acorns from the bases of the trees.

Frantic Filtering: Collect the hydraulic parts and bring them back to Mark. He will create a filter to help clean up the river by Harold’s home.

Cleanse the Waters: Install the filter that Mark gave Ellen to clean up the waters.
Huntin’ Harolds: Talk to Harold after fixing his house.

Doggy Cooking: There are dog food cans scattered all over the Village, and Ellen needs to bring them back to Harold in order for him to make a dog treat.
Woof Woof: Harold has now given Ellen a dog house and a doggy treat to feed the stray that is hanging out near Mark’s. Just place the dog house somewhere on the farm and then feed the stray the treat. He’ll come live with you at Grandpas.

Yet Another Lair: Harold’s house was destroyed, but Ellen can help. Bring 80 old wood and 80 rubble to rebuild his cottage.
Call Me the Pigman!: Get the blueprints from Harold to build the Pigsty and use five honey to tame five pigs you find in the wild.
A New Customer: Have a chat with Mark.

Fox Fest: In order to complete this quest, Ellen will need to do three things. First, she needs to rebuild the fox den north of Harold’s home. Next, she needs to break all the fox traps with her drill.

Once that’s all done, she just needs to befriend three of the five foxes hanging around the area.

Vive la Napoleon??: Harold has lost his pet pig, Napoleon. Find him in the underground to the far south of the Village and speak to the pig about “Liberty” in order to get him to head home.

There are several underground areas in the Village:
- The one to the south of Mark’s place contains a treasure case, a golden treasure case with a recipe, and dog food.
- The second underground area contains one blue treasure case and dog food.
- The third location is past the entrance to the Frozen Peaks to the south. This one contains several common treasure cases as well as a hydraulic part.

The Woodlet: Before Harold will give Ellen the final Bulbulator part, he asks that she help the deer at the far end of the Lonely Hills. Players will need to rebuild the deers’ homes with old wood and rubble. After that, she will need 10 oranges and 10 peppers to feed the deer.
