Purrfectly Hidden Cats: Kittenwood is yet another game in the recently popular, but perhaps not yet overpopulated genre of hidden object games, where you search for cats. This game was released in 2023 by Gemcraft Games, and it is the first in a series. A sequel of sorts is expected to come out on the 1st of February, and then another, free on top of that, sometime in the next few months.

And off we go, Purrfectly Hidden Cats - Kittenwood
And off we go…

Gameplay of Purrfectly Hidden Cats – Kittenwood

Purrfectly Hidden Cats – Kittenwood doesn’t stray much from other games in the genre; we have a scene, and we look for cats. The game is set within a charming city, with houses and people mulling about. We have kittens and cats on the streets and in the windows; quite a lot of them are hidden and only appear after interacting with various environmental elements. We also have some mini-puzzles within the game for players interested in diving deeper.

Some history.
Some History.

A Pink Town

Visually Purrfectly Hidden Cats – Kittenwood looks cozy and gorgeous at the same time. The picture of the town is pretty and vibrant with life. The art style is clear and concise. While the cats aren’t easy to find, once you do, you will not wonder how a doodle can pass up for a cat.

Compared to other Hidden Cats games, the scene is not black and white, but rather black and pinkish gradient. The cats, once found, are blue and green. There is a counter for each type of cat – green and blue on the top side of the screen. The soundtrack is playful and fits well with the overall gaming experience.

Those cats are chatty! Purrfectly Hidden Cats - Kittenwood
Those cats are chatty.

And a story, too!

There is a sense of wonder and humor in this game. You can easily see it in the little Easter eggs and the comments some of the cats make when you find them. There are also bits and pieces of a story in the game, which I have yet to see in the genre. Also, a mischievous and mysterious cat is always on the move, which you must catch. Catch it five times, and you unlock an extraordinary secret.

Difficulty

Purrfectly Hidden Cats: Kittenwood doesn’t have difficulty settings, but you can always turn on timed mode for an extra challenge. It doesn’t have much replay value, but it does a satisfying job of occupying you for a while. In terms of settings – there are only basic audio on and off toggles. The game has Steam achievements but no trading cards as of yet.

A pink town.
It’s a pink town.

Conclusion

Purrfectly Hidden Cats: Kittenwood is the perfect cozy hidden object escape for a few moments during these cold winter months. With its humor and upbeat atmosphere, it is well worth the time.

Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot. I like it a lot
