In 2016, visual novel adventure Root Letter released on the PS Vita and PS4. An enjoyable game, that got a make over, adding live action graphics and new scenarios. This new live-action mode means players can choose to check out the game in live action scenes, which players can choose to turn on at the title screen at any time to check out the game in live-action scenes.
The mystery of a 15 year old crime
What’s the game about? You are cast in the role of Takayuki, a young man that is set to leave for another city to pursue a career. While tidying his room, Takayuki re-discovers letters from his old pen pal, Aya. For some reason one is unopened, and chillingly reads, “I killed someone. I must atone for my sins.”
Where most people might let it go and go on to their new life, Takayuki takes a detour to visit Aya’s home town of Matsue. Arriving at the address he discovers that Aya’s house burnt down 15 years prior. And too make matters worse, everyone claims that Aya Fumino died 25 years ago. The mystery is born.
I played the original on my Vita, and really liked it at the time. So if you like your mysteries, this might be one to check out.

The new version is already out in Japan, but now also has a Western release date for the Switch, PS4 and Steam. PQube will bring it to Europe on August 30, 2019. Then, a few days later, it will appear on September 3, 2019 in North America.

This version will include a physical copy of the game and a 100-page art book.
