We are making all kinds of Summer Holiday related articles for you to enjoy, and some list the destinations you may visit in games to give you that extra special feeling of Summer. For me though, there is none other than Animal Crossing. Over the many years since I started playing that series, there are so many memories tied to that video game! I only have to hear the sound of the cicadas in real life to transport me right back into Wild World, New Leaf or New Horizons. So I felt this article should be about Summer Fun in Animal Crossing New Horizons, about all that makes it so special!
Summer Fireworks
Every Sunday in August there’s a fireworks show. You can see it from 7 pm till 12 am! Once the show starts, you can talk to Isabelle to get a free bopper headband. There are four designs to collect, so if you visit the show every Sunday in August, you should be able to collect them all.

During the Fireworks show, Redd opens up a shop called Redd’s Raffle. You can draw a ticket to get a prize, like balloons, ice cream, slushy drinks or sparklers.
Summer Shells and Crafting
With Summer here you can collect blue shells on the beach. They spawn on our beaches, but not as regularly as other shells. To help spawn enough blue shells it’s a good idea to pick up all shells on your beach. And if you are really on a mission, picking them all up hourly helps. Because the Summer Shells recipes often use other shells as well.
In the Summer season, you can find the special recipes on your beach, in balloons or when one of your villagers is crafting something. One recipe of the series, the Shell Wreath, is given to you by Isabel at the first start of your summer.
There is however a Summer Shells Island among the mystery islands. If you’re lucky, you may just happen onto one when Kapp’n brings you to it on a mystery tour. Mind you, you have to unlock this island by first experiencing the end of Summer: August 31.

These are the recipes to collect, and what you need to make them:
- Shell Wreath: 1 Giant Clam, 1 Cowrie, 1 Coral, 1 Sand Dollar, 1 Sea Snail and 1 Summer Shell.
- Shell Wand (get this recipe from Celeste): 3 Star fragment, 1 Summer Shell
- Tropical Vista: 5 Summer Shells
- Underwater Wall: 3 Coral, 3 Summer Shells
- Underwater Flooring: 3 Coral, 3 Summer Shells
- Summer Shell Rug: 6 Summer Shells
- Water Flooring: 6 Summer Shells
- Starry Sands Flooring: 3 Summer Shells, 1 Sandy-Beach Flooring
- Shellfish Pochette: 2 Giant Clam, 6 Summer Shells
Summer Bushes and Items
In Summer, you can get three kinds of bushes to bloom: the blue and pink hydrangea, the yellow and red hibiscus and the white and pink plumeria bushes. They all flower between June and August if you have your game set to the Northern Hemisphere. And from December to February if you are in the Southern Hemisphere.

Nooks Cranny also sells two items in that season: a surfboard and a fan. And there are different variations of those around six types of surfboards and three kinds of fans. You can only get those variations by visiting other islands or trading with friends. Or you can bring them to Cyrus on Harv’s Island, as he can also change the design for you! For the collectors among us!
Special Summer Settings
Searching online, I’ve seen so many scenes in New Horizons that give off Summer vibes. Unless the setting is my own, the creative people who made it have been credited below the image.
When I was young, my parents often went to Italy on holiday. I distinctly remember the first time. I was 7 when we spent two weeks in Cavalino near Lido di Jesolo on the Adriatic Coast. And across from our camping, there was an Italian restaurant where I had my first ever pizza. The real deal!

Last year I visited a Spa while we were on holiday in Austria. Normally the village was a super trendy winter sport, and as of course, snow was absent, some other tourist destinations were in order. On a rainy day, the Spa was perfect. And I swear, it looked a lot like this setting made by MZLadyPerson.
Now doesn’t the below image remind you of being in Hawaii? It does for me. When we were there we stayed in a hotel where the pool had just these kinds of deck chairs, only theirs were standing on the shallow rim in the pool. This AC NH scene looks lovely and very summery, thanks to @ACNH_NOOKSISLE.

I’m guessing Summer Vacation also means having fun in the nightlife, only using the beach to sleep and enjoying the nights going to the disco or bar. That is what this image reminds me of! And of course, blue hair is mandatory! Thank you FOXIEMOXIEE!
If the above version was my idea of a Hawaiian holiday, this one below is the real deal. A Hawaiian Luau! All that’s missing is the Hula Dancers! Great @QUACKIDEES!
But Summer vacation doesn’t have to be about the beach or the pool. You can also spend it doing some site seeing, or visiting a zoo! Like Lanky_Bank is doing!
Enjoy the Summer season in our favourite creative game!
