Wildmender on Sale
This week, we have published an article highlighting some great games that are discounted in the Steam Summer Sale. Another game is very much worth mentioning and now 30% off as well until July 11th, 10 am Pacific Time: Wildmender. Paula liked the game a lot when she reviewed it, writing in conclusion:
Wildmender is an engaging and thoughtful simulation about freeing the Gods and breathing new life into a barren desert environment. What begins as a game about the dry, barren land and as you delve into the mystery behind the fallen civilisation, it soon becomes a story about harmonious relationships. The story engages you and urges you to play on to discover its secrets. If survival simulation games are your go-to genre, then Wildmender is waiting for you to solve its mystery.

Coming in 2024, Backpacking Adventure Albatroz
Developer Among Giants is bringing us Albatroz, an exciting backpacking adventure RPG that invites you to explore majestic landscapes while searching for your lost sibling. In this tale about knowing when to let go and start over, you’ll join Isla as she ventures through “The Forbidden Lands,” an enchanting and otherworldly realm where two worlds converge.
As you journey through Albatroz, you’ll encounter diverse villages with intriguing residents. These villages are perfect for planning your next steps and meeting NPCs who offer clues and valuable items to aid your quest.
Resource management is crucial in Albatroz. Collect essential supplies to survive the challenging environments, ensuring you use your resources efficiently and restock them before they run out.
Each character in Albatroz has unique adventure skills, represented in a Skill Tree that can be upgraded from Tier 1 to Tier 3. Earn Travel Points by exploring new areas, interacting with objects, and helping NPCs, then use these points to enhance your skills and level up your car, making your journey smoother.
You can find more info about Albatroz here, note that the rating is still pending.
Cozy Grove for Free With Your Netflix
These days, you can choose which device you prefer for gaming. Or even which combination suits you best. For example, you prefer gaming on your PC in the evening, but it would be fun to have a good game on your tablet as well. For those last few moments in bed before you drift off to sleep!
All the more reason to keep an eye on games that appear on your streaming service. To my surprise, I saw Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit on Netflix. It’s now a fixture on my iPad. When Paula reviewed it she wrote:
This is a game that won’t be for all. Those that do not like being told they can “check back tomorrow” should probably steer clear. The game is quite cute, the artwork is lovely and helping the bear-like islanders is a lot of fun. It does look like the developer is intent on keeping on top of the game performance on the Switch, by continuing to release updates for the game.
I’m not sure it’s available on Netflix in all countries, but best check it out!
Scorchlands Leaving Early Access
Scorchlands is set to release its version 1.0 on July 25th after spending over a year in Early Access. Developed by Jakub Rogalski of Ringlab studio and published by Star Drifters, this game tells the tale of the Giwi birdfolk and their ambitious dream of space exploration.
In Scorchlands, you’ll guide the Giwi as they embark on an expedition to the moon Helia. Your mission is to help them establish settlements and transform the hostile lunar surface. Using a mix of technology and magic, you’ll turn deserts into lush meadows, forests, and lakes.
A year ago, Paula already felt Scorchlands looked promising in Early Access, so we are looking forward to the 1.0 version!
Preserve Launching in Early Access
Preserve, developed by Bitmap Galaxy and published by Grindstone, is set to enter Steam Early Access on August 8th. This relaxing game offers a chance to immerse yourself in nature-building puzzles, as I found when I played the demo earlier this year.
The Early Access launch will feature a brand-new Marine Biome, along with complete versions of the Continental and Savanna Biomes. You’ll find over 25 puzzles and an extensive creative mode to explore. Preserve will be available on Steam for PC on August 8th, with console versions to follow later.
Your Desktop Companion in Weyrdlets
Step into the delightful realm of Weyrdlets, where productivity meets fun in a unique virtual pet experience. Adopt a quirky pet that not only keeps you company but also helps you stay productive and relaxed. The game will be released on Steam on July 23rd, aiming to bring joy and motivation to any intimidating checklist. How does this work?
In Weyrdlets, you can personalize your pet’s appearance with a variety of accessories and curate its home with charming decor. Experience lifelike interactions by petting, grabbing, feeding, and playing with your pet both in-game and on your desktop. Your pet will assist you with daily activities through features like the integrated Pomodoro Timer and To-Do list, turning work into play by reducing stress while you study, tackle emails, or doomscroll. Additionally, you can wind down with a daily self-reflection logger, enhancing focus and efficiency.
Plus, while your pet idles, it accumulates coins—an in-game currency to purchase even more delightful items! Express your creativity by decorating both your pet and its environment with accessories and stickers, from Viking hats to home decor. Sound interesting? Here’s more info on the Steam page.
New Content for Cities: Skylines 2
Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive released the Economy 2.0 update for Cities: Skylines 2 in June. This week, we see a new patch for Cities: Skylines 2 that addresses issues reported after Economy 2.0 and introduces some new content.
The art team has created new service-building variations and additional themed vehicles to enhance your city’s customization options. For detailing enthusiasts, there’s a new Age Selector for the Tree Placement Tool, giving you more control over your greenery. Additionally, the new Surface Tool allows you to add 11 different surfaces to your city, making it more vibrant and unique. If you want more detailed information, you can find it here!
Immortal Life on Sale
We could fill this news with more sales news, I know…but there’s another Steam Summer Sale that is worth mentioning: Immortal Life is now available at its lowest price point to date! With very positive reviews, including mine, and playable on the Steam Deck, this farming sim is unlike any other with its Chinese-themed fantasy world. You can find the promotion on Steam here.

I am so excited about Cozy Grove. I love it precisely bc I cannot spend all day playing it, that I have to come back to complete more quests. I loved the first one, which I am replaying on Steam Deck.
Hi Angie! I never played the first one, is it very different from this one on Netflix? I heard that, that you sometimes have to wait till the next playtime for things to progress. Like you, that’s fine for me too, dipping in and out of the game.
