Archaica: The Path of Light

Manipulate artifacts from an ancient civilization to solve challenging puzzles.
Paula became the light bearer in Archaica: The Path of Light
The world of Archaica: The Path of Light is a gorgeous and remarkable place using simple mechanics involving beams of light and mirrors that is brilliantly done.
You’ll need your spatial awareness and problem solving skills to be on form and working well to solve the puzzles. I never felt frustrated with the puzzles; between having the hints available to use, and no timer, you’re free to move the mirrors and splitters around the level at your own pace.
Adding in new challenges and new concepts as the game progresses, the game always has something fresh ahead for the player. This stops the repetitive nature of some games settling in, and turns an otherwise simple premise into quite the detailed challenge.
If you a big fan of puzzle games, I would recommend Archaica: The Path of Light take a spot on your Nintendo Switch.

Epistory – Typing Chronicles

Epistory is an atmospheric adventure typing game that tells the story of a writer lacking inspiration who asks her muse to help write her latest book.
Yvonne was tapping away whilst playing Epistory – Typing Chronicles
Epistory: Typing Chronicles is a beautiful game with a good story, lovely puzzles, exploration and nice battles. You can play it to learn how to touch-type, but it’s not a necessity. I urge you to play it just for fun! Use a keyboard and broaden your vocabulary or use the Switch buttons: both work wonderfully.
The origami world of Epistory: Typing Chronicles is gorgeous, seeing new parts of the world literally unfold is magical. The soundtrack is a good match to the feeling of wonder and the storytelling is great. There can only be one conclusion for me.

Evergate

Ignite your Soulflame
James went to the beyond to review Evergate:
Evergate is a beautiful and clever platformer. Once you get your head round the mechanics there is something quite special here to enjoy for the puzzle-platforming fan. If you need to take a break away from this world for a while, Evergate will take you to an afterlife with great music, rewarding challenges, and a moving story that may just speak to those who share a special bond with someone.

God of Light: Remastered

Become God of Light!
Paula recommended God of Light: Remastered with a slight caution:
God of Light: Remastered offers an enjoyable puzzle adventure for players seeking an illuminating experience on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re a fan of relaxing yet challenging physics puzzlers, you will probably enjoy God of Light: Remastered. However, bear in mind this is a game that costs £1.99 on the Apple App Store with touch controls versus the same game on the Nintendo Switch minus touchscreen controls. The choice is yours, of course, but I know which system I’d play it on.

Graveyard Keeper

Expand a medieval cemetery into a thriving business, whatever it takes!
Paula was dying to get to grips with Graveyard Keeper:
Graveyard Keeper looks lovely with its pixel art graphics. The soundtrack changes depending on what area of the map you’re in. Sometimes there’s music, sometimes the ambient sounds and weather effects: all of this makes the game an inviting world to spend time in, even with its morbid theme.
Caution should be used however as some of the games’ theme and language may be slightly offensive to some, especially the young.
For fans of the genre: if you can get your head around the cutting up and burying off the dead, make no bones about it. Graveyard Keeper is a great addition to the Nintendo Switch, and it seems the life of an undertaker can certainly keep a player busy for hours with a wide array of gameplay activities.

How Buddy’s Parents Met

Discover a romance through the eyes of the cat Buddy in this minimalist jigsaw puzzle game
Yvonne pieced together the story of How Buddy’s Parents Met
I don’t often make jigsaw puzzles in real life, but I live with someone who loves nothing better than to clutter my kitchen table and countertop with puzzles of 1000 pieces or more. I felt How Buddy’s Parents Met is a very nice alternative to have the same puzzling fun in your pocket. It has all the qualities that make putting jigsaws together fun and adds the benefit of it being compact. With various difficulty levels, sweet images to form and a relaxing tune in the background, this love story will give your hours of fun!

Mousecraft

Ever wondered what a cross between Tetris and Lemmings would look like?
Paula went looking for the cheese in Mousecraft
Mousecraft presents itself in a lovely polished package, under the ever watchful eyes of Schrödinger the cat who adds some character and humor to the game.
Mousecraft has addicting gameplay that gives you a sense of satisfaction once the mice make it safely to the block of cheese. You’ll not find anything new or mind blowing in the game but you will find a charming and entertaining puzzle game which fits the Nintendo Switch purrfectly!!

Quest Hunter

Action-RPG where your choice drives the story.
James grabbed his shovel and became a Quest Hunter
Quest Hunter is a fun little dungeon crawler. I enjoyed it alone, but playing with friends across other platforms really brought this game to life. Hunting for treasure with friends never felt so good. Now where did I leave my shovel?
There is a demo available, so you can try before you buy. The Deluxe Edition and DLC are also being discounted, so check out the best deal for you.

Surmount

Be the first to reach the top of the highest mountain in the world and meet eccentric characters along the way! Discover endless amounts of climbing routes, alone or in co-op mode.
I went climbing in Surmount
I was delighted to find that Surmount was more than just a platforming adventure of climbing a single mountain. The side expeditions, storyline and humorous interactions with other climbers make it a joyful experience, even for those of us whose climbing skills are lacking.
The coordination needed to control your little climber grabbing the rock face and flinging them in the right direction is harder than it looks and makes this a challenging adventure. The option of a local co-op is a great addition and makes Surmount a fun game to share.
Unfortunately, my co-op player and I glitched a few too many times to give Surmount a Two Thumbs Up (our initial thoughts). But it made us smile and laugh, especially with low gravity.

The Unexpected Quest

Adventure game with strategy and management elements in a medieval fantasy setting.
Paula got stranded in The Unexpected Quest
I do like The Unexpected Quest, it is a fun game in short bursts. It isn’t a deep strategy games like some other games in the genre. However, if your looking a mild strategy game that isn’t too brain taxing then The Unexpected Quest would be worth looking into.

Tiny Lands

Have you ever played the old puzzle games in which you had to find all the differences? Well… Tiny Lands uses the basic concept of this idea, but with a new twist.
Paula spotted the differences in Tiny Lands
Tiny Lands is a fun and enjoyable puzzle game, nice to sit down with for a coffee break and a few minutes of play. This would be a great game for parents to play with their children. I can picture them sitting around the TV, playing the game and the children shouting out the differences they had found in the puzzles. It would be a good help to fine-tune a child’s observation skills too. Adults will enjoy the game too, which leaves me only one thing to say.
Please note Tiny Lands is currently unsupported on the Switch 2.

Winds of Change

Experience the Ultimate Furry Tale
Paula liked Winds of Change a lot, concluding
Winds of Change is a lengthy visual novel with hours upon hours of playtime. At times I did feel that it was maybe a bit too long, though I think that will depend on how well you gel with the storyline. While the story is enjoyable and quite interesting, I felt that too much time is spent on managing minor friendships in the game, which feels like a filler to me.
If adventure, visual novels with furries are your jam, then you will more than likely find what you are looking for in Winds of Change.
