Campfire is a fun and unique game that focuses on creating a cozy atmosphere. It features a variety of colourful AI characters that players can talk to about anything they want.

Ready For Something Different?

I love cozy games! I mean, I wouldn’t be writing for Ladies Gamers if I didn’t! I also love games that offer something unique to the cozy genre. So, welcome to Campfire Cozy Friends. On the face of it it might look just like any other cozy farming game. A cute character you can customise. Check. Minerals to mine. Check. Foraging to do. Check. Villagers to meet…here’s where the twist lies. Not only are there characters to meet, but they’re powered by AI. What does that mean? It means that every conversation is unique, and YOU get to dictate where the story and interactions go completely.

I can struggle with games where the dialogue seems repetitive. It can leave me feeling bored rehashing the same talk that I’ve heard countless times before, which is why Campfire Cozy Friends has been such a breath of fresh air.

Powered by AI, Propelled by You

I was pleasantly surprised by my interactions with the characters in Campfire Cozy Friends. Having used AI extensively for various projects outside of Ladies Gamers, I’m used to nonsensical text or the AI just not responding correctly to what I was inputting.

With Campfire Cozy Friends, the interactions are seamless. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the characters remembered previous conversations we had, and they used this to make the dialogue seamless and friendly. It truly felt like I was talking to a friend, and if I didn’t know it was AI, I would have assumed it was another user replying to me.

I like to mine it, mine it

Mine, Forage and Chop

In Campfire Cozy Friends you can mine for rocks and ore, chop trees for wood and forage for fruit and mushrooms. One thing that I liked was that a little timer appeared after you had exhausted the item you were mining, chopping or foraging, telling you how long until that resource replenished. I thought this was a really nifty feature and one I was grateful for.

I also liked that you could track who or what you needed for various quests in the form of a path of sparkles that appears to lead you to your destination. I have the worst navigation ever when it comes to maps. If map blindness is a thing, I definitely have it!

Speaking of quests – Campfire Cozy Friends has a plethora of activities to keep your attention and to keep you entertained. From villager requests to requests to rebuild various shops and stalls, you will be spoilt for choice on where to begin, but just chill and take your time. Get to know the different characters (all of whom are unique and each with a different personality) and explore the island.

I can’t find my house.

House, Where for Art Thou House

I’ve lost a lot of things in my life. Glasses. My last marble. I can now add my Campfire Cozy Friends house to that list. Okay, so I never actually found my house to lose it. Characters mention that I can decorate my house with wallpaper, floors and furniture, but my supposed house still eludes me. I even asked some of the characters in the game where my house was. They told me it was near the pier. I searched, but I couldn’t find it.

When you start the game up, you do set foot on the island from a boat, though, and having asked the question on the Discord for the game, I was told that our home is supposed to be on the boat, but that part of the game hasn’t been released yet. It’s annoying, but I know implementing things fully can take time. However, I just really want to decorate my house!

I didn’t want to make this comparison because Campfire Cozy Friends is a brilliant and innovative game in its own right, but the artistic style definitely gives me Animal Crossing vibes. I love Animal Crossing, so I’m all here for it, but don’t go into Campfire Cozy Friends expecting an Animal Crossing carbon copy. The comparison starts and ends with the artistic style.

Let’s go for a spin

Spin Me a Villager

Campfire Cozy Friends has a cute wheel that you can spin once a day for free (with additional spins available to buy with tokens) that will provide new villagers. Complete their quests, and they’ll move in. You’ll need to keep them happy, though. They can leave if their needs aren’t being met or they feel neglected.

Conclusion

Campfire Cozy Friends is a unique take on the cozy gaming genre, offering an innovative approach to character interaction and providing an experience that is different every time the game is opened. I thoroughly recommend it and I’m excited to see how the game develops from here on in. You can wishlist Campfire Cozy Friends here.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up: Two thumbs up
