Cats Balance is a 2024 puzzle game developed and released by Minicactus Games.

And off we go.

The Premise of Cats Balance

In Cats Balance, we have blocks vaguely shaped like cats that we need to balance on top of each other. If one of our blocks falls on the ground or water below, we lose and start over. The same goes if our tower of cat-shaped blocks topples.

Gameplay

We have five different scenes, each with ten levels. On the top part of the screen, we have the blocks, which can be different shapes, even spheres. On the bottom part of the screen, we have the platform on which we’ll be arranging the cats. Sometimes it’s a simple platform, sometimes it’s the roof of a little house or two smaller platforms, not really close to each other.

Oh, that’s not gonna work…

Once you pick up a kitten, you can’t put it back anywhere but on the tower of kittens. If you change your mind, drop it in the water, and the level will reset. Picking up the kittens is done with the right mouse button, and rotating them is done with the left.

As said, each scene has ten levels, so fifty levels altogether. Solving a level unlocks the next one, but we can also skip a level. I tried it, and you can skip as many levels as you want. There is no limit. Also, there is no time limit on solving the levels. Once you create a balancing tower, you have a countdown from 3 to 1. Once it passes without the tower falling down, we are off to the next level.

Well, now we are talking.

The level is shown at the top of the screen. One thing to note is that once you start a new pack of levels, you need to press enter to begin the levels.

Visually, Cats Balance is a fun pixel graphics puzzle game. The scenes are quite beautiful, with smooth animation for water. I dropped quite a few cats in the water just to watch them swash around.

Feels like a summer night.

Some Other Things

Cats Balance has basic audio and full-screen on/off options. It also has Steam achievements but no trading cards as yet.

Conclusion for Cats Balance

Cats Balance is a delightful little puzzle game created entirely in a cozy color palette and pixel graphics. The music is pleasant enough, but it can be played with music off while doing something else, as I did.

Final Verdict: I Like it. I like it
