Indie developer Reloading Games has revealed Sandpiper Point, a cozy fishing RPG set in a peaceful coastal village where changing seasons, shifting tides, and local mysteries shape everyday life. Sandpiper Point is currently in active development, with its first public demo planned for Steam Next Fest in February 2027.
Welcome to Sandpiper Point
Nestled along the coast, Sandpiper Point is a quiet fishing village where life moves at a gentle pace. However, there is more beneath the surface than calm waters and friendly faces. The town’s namesake birds, the sandpipers, have all but disappeared, and no one seems to know why.
Players will be free to spend their days however they choose, whether that means fishing, crafting, exploring, or getting to know the local community.
Master the Art of Fishing
Fishing sits at the heart of the experience, offering multiple techniques across rivers, lakes, and the open sea. Different species can be found depending on the location, season, weather, and even the time of day.
Players will need to pay attention to conditions, select the right gear, and take part in a hands-on catch minigame whenever a fish bites.
Beyond casting a line, Sandpiper Point encourages players to explore its world and collect resources. Wood, ore, shells, and wild plants can all be gathered, while rarer materials await on distant islands.
Caught fish can be processed in various ways, including filleting, smoking, drying, and pressing. These resources can then be used to create custom hooks, lures, and other useful equipment.
A Living Coastal Community
The residents of Sandpiper Point each follow their own daily routines and have personal stories to uncover. By helping villagers and building relationships, players can unlock new opportunities and learn more about the town’s secrets.
The in-game economy is also closely tied to community growth, allowing players to sell their catch locally and expand market opportunities as relationships deepen.
Exploration extends far beyond the village docks. Players can travel by boat to a variety of locations, including river islands, volcanic archipelagos, coral reefs, and mountain lakes. Each area offers its own fish species, resources, and discoveries.
Combined with dynamic weather and changing seasons, these locations ensure there is always something new to uncover.
Still early days for Sandpiper Point but the description on the Steam page sounds promising.
