The excitement for the announcements of the Nintendo Direct has died down a bit, so it’s back to the normal handheld gaming news again. Last week saw the release of Kirby Star Allies you can read Paige’s first impressions based on the demo here.
I’m impatiently waiting for the end of March, to finally get started in the last part of the Mysterious trilogy with Atelier Lydie & Suelle on the Switch.
For the time being I’m amusing myself with Skyrim and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. Though I think you’d be hard pressed to find two other games that are such opposites!
Let’s see what casual gaming news stood out to me this week:
Update Animal Crossing Pocket Camp
At the rate the updates in this game are implemented I can almost start every week with this headline! But as there are several events going on simultaneously now, it’s enough to mention, so here goes.
I tried to recap whats going on in the game right here!
Happy Birthdays demo coming soon
We talked before about the new game Happy Birthdays, allowing you to create your own biosphere. The game is set to be released in the West this June, but it’s already very close for the Japanese release.
If you can’t wait to give it a try, you could download the Japanese Switch demo on March 22. You do need a Japanese My Nintendo Account of course. The demo let’s you play the four stages Rocky Plains, Green Fields, Scorching Earth and Frozen Lands.
Sales in the American Nintendo eShop
There are some interesting sales going on in the American eShop for both the 3DS and the Switch. They last until March 22, and here are the ones that stood out to me. ( for a full list, check them out here)
- Story of Seasons, Trio of Towns 3DS $ 19,99
- I am Setsuna, Switch $19,99
- Lost Sphear, Switch $34,95
The latter too are on offer in the European eShop as well for the same price in euros, but Trio of Towns isn’t.
Stardew Valley multiplayer close
The multiplayer addition to Stardew Valley on the Switch is close: the developers have let us know through Twitter that this component is currently being tested in Quality Assurance. Various bugs they have come across are being fixed at a fairly swift pace!
But what’s also important: the new update that puts the multiplayer layer on top of the current game, also includes new single player content.
Re:Legend Kickstarter now has a publisher
Italian publisher 505 Games (known from Portal Knights and Bloodstained) has announced the next game it’ll be bringing to Switch is the monster-raising simulation RPG Re:Legend. The following is from their press release. We don’t know a date yet.
Players begin their adventure on Vokka Island in the land of Ethia, where they are tasked with starting a new life and must find a way to recover their lost memories, setting the stage for an great adventure as they learn to survive on the island by cultivating the land, befriending villagers, expanding and growing the village and raising their very own magical monsters, known as “Magnus.”
Special surprise character for Harvest Moon Light of Hope
Natsumé tweeted about a surprise character for their upcoming Switch (and PS4) game Harvest Moon Light of Hope. In a tweet they said ” We are happy to introduce Soleil, a new character in Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition! Soleil’s origin is shrouded in mystery…just where did he come from? We’ll be revealing more details soon! “
It seems you can only get him in the special edition then? The special limited edition, comes with the Harvest Moon Switch game, in physical form. Furthermore it comes with the Chocolate Cow plus, adorable! An Animal Pin set, a hardcover farmers journal, the original soundtrack and a beautiful collectors box. Nindies Showcase announced
After we just had a Nintendo Direct recently, Nintendo announced a Nindies Showcase. It will be focused on Indie titles coming to the Nintendo Switch.
That’s it for this week, my friends. I hope you are having a grand weekend with lots of gaming. I will go back to my quest in Skyrim. Hope to see you again next week!
