Team17 and Wonderscope Games have announced Hokko Spaces, a new cosy sandbox experience set within the world of Hokko Life. Revealed during the Wholesome Direct showcase, the game aims for a calm, casual experience designed for players who want to slow down and create their own relaxing environments.
A Steam playtest is available on the Steam page, giving players the opportunity to explore the game early by building personalised dioramas tailored to the needs of its many anthropomorphic animal residents.
A Creative Sandbox Built For Relaxation
Hokko Spaces will focus on creativity and comfort, allowing players to construct detailed miniature scenes using a broad range of tools and decorative options. The game will feature more than 300 items to place, including campfires, benches, picnic baskets, planters, flowers, and picket fences.

Players will also be able to shape their environment using five different block types such as grass, sand, and stone cobbles. Additional customisation comes through seasonal settings, with all four seasons available, each featuring two different weather options.
As players build their scenes, they will be able to welcome 26 different animal visitors into their creations. These characters can be unlocked through simple, low-effort goals, such as clearing weeds within a diorama.
Once unlocked, the residents will visit and interact with the environments, helping to bring each peaceful scene to life.
The game will also include an easy-to-use Photo Mode, enabling players to take pictures of their creations and share them on social media.
A Smaller, More Focused Experience
Wonderscope Games’ Robert Tatnell described Hokko Spaces as a more focused project following the success of Hokko Life, aiming to deliver a “bitesize dose of cuteness and creativity” in a relaxed format.
He also highlighted the importance of player feedback, with the Steam playtest launching alongside the announcement to help shape the experience and make it as calming and comforting as possible.
I must say, if Hokko Spaces manages to capture the same vibe as Hokko Life does, it’ll be one to look out for! Need a refresher about the world of Hokko Life? Here’s my review!
