Nintendo Direct Overview

As many of you probably know, a Nintendo Direct dropped on February 17th. I finally got a chance to watch it and there were some interesting looking titles! I’ve included some information and release dates for the games that we’d enjoy here at LadiesGamers.

Outer Wilds

You are an explorer of a planet that is destroyed by its sun exploding every 22 minutes. Keep exploring to figure out how to prevent your new planet’s destruction and find out why it’s stuck in a time loop. This game will be launching in the Summer of 2021.

Famicon Detective Club: The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind

This is the first time these titles have been localized to North America. In The Missing Heir you have to solve a murder in a haunted village while suffering from amnesia. In The Girl Who Stands Behind you solve a supernatural mystery. These games will be launching May 14th.

Legend of Mana

Legend of Mana is coming to the Switch after 20 years with remastered HD graphics. This title features a new arrangement of the music, new features (such as the ability to turn off enemy encounters, something that I would love to see in more games!), and the addition of a mini game. Legend of Mana launches June 24th.

Mario Golf: Super Rush

Last seen on the 3DS, Mario Golf is coming to the Switch! This installment includes the ability to use motion controls to control the golf club. A speed golf setting adds excitement to golfing by allowing you to race. This title also includes Story Mode where you play as a Mii! I’m happy to see Nintendo bringing back our beloved Miis. This title launches June 25th.

DC Super Hero Girls: Teen Power

As various teen girl superheroes from the DC universe (including Batgirl, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman) you’ll fight crime, attend school, and go shopping. This game launches on June 4th.

Miitopia

Will be released on May 21st. See Yvonne’s article about this title!

Super Mario items coming to Animal Crossing!

In honor of the Super Mario Brothers 35th anniversary, Super Mario themed items are coming to Animal Crossing with the February 25th update. This will include the ability to use warp pipes on your island, as well as purchase assorted Mario items in the Nook shop. Items available in the Nook shop beginning March 1st!

Project Triangle Strategy (Working Title)

This title from Square Enix will be available in 2022. Project Triangle Strategy is a 2D-HD tactical adventure, in which you’ll fight to save the kingdom of Glenbrook. Game features include a varied terrain that you have to take into account for your battle strategies and weapons effectiveness, and an intriguing conviction metric. Based on your decisions, conviction will influence your path. Demo now version available with a player survey to follow.

World’s End Club

From the creators of the Zero Escape and Danganronpa series, this side-scrolling action and narrative title follows the Go-Getters Club as they try to survive a Japan where everyone else has disappeared. This title arrives May 28th.

SaGa Frontier Remastered

This is a new HD version of the Square Enix game. Features include a new character, new events and cut scenes, and a high-speed function. This title drops April 15.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

We last saw this game on the Wii in 2011 where it utilized the wii remote and nunchuck to control the actions. Expect better controls this time around utilizing the joycons, as well as button-only controls for handheld play. Also scheduled for release are a pair of specially designed Zelda joycons! Game and joycons hit the shelves on July 16.

That’s a wrap for this overview. What games are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below!
