A Short Hike
Hike, climb, and soar through the peaceful mountainside landscapes of Hawk Peak Provincial Park.
Yvonne took to the skies when reviewing A Short Hike
A Short Hike offers a wholesome experience for a small price. Though the game is short, it’s worth every penny. Put yourself in Claire’s shoes (do bluebirds wear shoes?) and explore this lovely landscape. Meet all kinds of characters and help them in their quest. Most of all: glide through the air, truly as free as a bird!

Boxville
Boxville is an award-winning adventure puzzle game about speechless cans living in the city of boxes and drawing doodles on cardboards to tell their stories.
I helped Blue Can in Boxville
Boxville is a short but wonderful puzzle adventure about friendship. For me, the lack of Pro Controller use just dipped my overall enjoyment, but if handheld (or mouse via PC) is your preferred gaming style, then Boxville is a great game to play.
The graphics are fantastic, and although a couple of the puzzles were a little challenging, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Blue Can and his tin dog in Boxville.

Cities: Skylines
Build Anywhere. Play Everywhere.
Paula has spent hundreds of hours building her Cities: Skylines
Cities: Skylines does have its issues with the frame rate drops. Sometimes it can look a bit boxy while moving the camera over a large city at speed. But if you can get past that there is a deep city building sim underneath those few faults. At nighttime when your city is in darkness with the street lights twinkling it can look good…or during sunset when the sky is turning red.
There is a lot to do and learn if you’re new to city building games. That’s the fun of it and the challenge to get a massive city up and running somewhat smoothly is there for those that have played this genre before. The gameplay just keeps pulling me back into it until I’d realised I’d played over 200 hours and still my city is growing.
I believe that for me, buying Cities: Skylines on Nintendo Switch on a whim has proved correct, I like it a lot and I’m still enjoying it.
The Nintendo Switch version of Cities: Skylines comes with the After Dark and Snowfall expansions. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to get any of the other DLC’s, which Paula has reviewed.

Evergate
Ignite your Soulflame
James went to the beyond to review Evergate:
Evergate is a beautiful and clever platformer. Once you get your head round the mechanics there is something quite special here to enjoy for the puzzle-platforming fan. If you need to take a break away from this world for a while, Evergate will take you to an afterlife with great music, rewarding challenges, and a moving story that may just speak to those who share a special bond with someone.

Kitaria Fables
Kitaria Fables is a delightfully cute action adventure RPG with farming and crafting! Armed with a sword, bow and spellbook, fight back against a rising darkness threatening the world. Discover diverse regions in search of relics and resources, tend to your farm to grow your own provisions, and take on quests solo or with a friend in local co-op mode!
Paula battled through Kitaria Fables
Kitaria Fables has a lot going for it. From the cute cast of animals to the combat and the crafting and farming, you won’t run out of things to do. In fact, you’ll probably be pushed to fit it all in as there is just so much in the game. Anyone who has played Role-Playing, adventure, genre before will find what they are looking for in Kitaria Fables.
There is a Kitaria Fables: Deluxe Edition in the US eShop, which includes various skins for the main character.

LEGO: Builder’s Journey
LEGO Builder’s Journey is an atmospheric, geometric puzzle game that asks us to sometimes follow the instructions… and sometimes to break the rules.
LEGO Builder’s Journey built its way into Paula’s Best Games of 2021:
LEGO Builder’s Journey is a well thought out puzzle game, with a wonderful art style. It is an absolute delight to play. It is aimed at all fans of LEGO but it has a really grown up puzzle feel to it too. I hope we see more of this style of game from the LEGO brand in future. Also with the LEGO in the game and not all over the floor (no, I didn’t do that as a child) you can’t step on those Lego pieces and leave a brick imprint on your foot.

Ocean’s Heart
Ocean’s Heart is an epic top-down action RPG in which you explore a beautiful archipelago as a young woman named Tilia. All done in beautiful, bright pixel art.
Paula went to sea reviewing Ocean’s Heart
Ocean’s Heart is a colourful, quirky action-adventure game with some charm. It is pretty easy to play, but it can lead to a few frustrating moments as the controls aren’t always precise. It’s more a love letter to the top-down RPG adventure than a clone. If classic action-adventure games are your thing, give Ocean’s Heart a try.

Röki
Every dark fairytale has its monster.
Paula immersed herself in Scandinavian folklore with Röki
It is obvious from playing Röki that developers Polygon Treehouse want you to enjoy the puzzles and adventuring gameplay. However, it’s done in such a way as not to distract you from the story.
A story is full of Scandinavian folklore intertwined with a tale of a broken family being held together by Tove’s determination, courage and spirit. All of which transforms the experience into something lasting and memorable for the player.

Spiritfarer
Spiritfarer is a cozy management game about dying.
Paula helped ferry the deceased in Spiritfarer:
Spiritfarer is a positive look at death as all the characters make peace with both their life and death in their own time. The characters are charming, all have depth with stories to tell.
While some mini-games may feel tedious the more you do them, there are plenty of other tasks in the game to balance this out.
Playing Spiritfarer at this particular time in the mad and crazy world we live in is something everyone should do. As well as being entertaining and enjoyable to play Spiritfarer is hopeful, comforting, and positive and certainly big on delivering the ”feels”!
Curious, but not sure – check out the demo.

Star Renegades
RESIST. RECLAIM. SURVIVE. REPEAT
Travelling between dimensions, James joined the Star Renegades
Star Renegades is a beautiful looking futuristic game with fun memorable characters and deep tactical gameplay to match. Certainly not an easy game. The Imperium is a hard enemy to stand up to. But with every failed attempt comes new lessons in the hopes of finally entering that dimension where you succeed. Star Renegades is a game I won’t be putting down anytime soon and look forward to its future updates.

Teacup
Explore a beautiful hand-drawn world. Meet a diverse cast of whimsical animals. Help the residents of the forest.
Paula helped Teacup on her adventure
Teacup is a very relaxing and wholesome game to play. Going on Teacup’s adventure with her is a delightful experience. You’ll meet a charming cast of animals to interact with, and live a sweet story about tea and friends. The whole game gives off whimsical vibes and is a pleasure to play. Go on, treat yourself to a warm hug by playing Teacup!

Townscaper
Instant town-building toy.
Paula built big in Townscaper:
Townscaper is the grown-up equivalent of the latest children’s toy that all the kids are all playing with a Fidget Spinner. It is calming, relaxing, refreshing, and gives you creative control over the world you choose to make or just mess around with. I don’t have any niggles with the game, other than I think the addition of having little people appear on the paths that are created would be wonderful. I realise Townscaper will not be a game all gamers will like, but if you are curious you should at least give it a try.

Windbound
The Forbidden Islands are Calling, Unlock their Secrets.
Paula travelled far and wide in her review of Windbound:
The focus in Windbound is definitely more on the survival side, with you keeping protagonist Kara alive in this rogue-like game. The game also takes the survival genre in a new direction by providing endless replay-ability options thanks to the procedural world, and dynamic because of the modular craft you can build. As each time you play the size of your boat changes depending on what resources you can find on the islands, these dictate the type of boat you can build.
There is something quite satisfying about building your own boat and setting sail across the sea into unknown territory in Windbound. I’ve found the game to be very entertaining and a lot of fun to play.
