Seafrog – The Slickest Wrench Ride at Sea
Every now and then, a game drops out of nowhere that smashes unlikely concepts together and somehow makes magic. In the case of Seafrog, it’s skateboarding, platforming… and sea engineering. And it works.
You play as Seafrog, not just a sea creature with some excellent balance, but also a stranded engineer stuck in a watery mess involving broken ships, and the ever-looming abyss of doom in the form of a whirlpool. Armed with a rocket-powered wrench that doubles as a skateboard, your job is simple: ride, grind, and trick your way across stranded ships, all while collecting cannon fuel to blast your way out of this ridiculous situation.
Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds.

A Wrench in Time
At its core, Seafrog is a 2.5d action platformer with just a dash of skateboarding trick score-chasing. You explore different derelict ships, which act as semi-open levels filled with secrets, vertical challenges, and style potential. You’ll be searching for yellow orbs, essentially your escape fuel, and grinding rails, tricking off enemies, and flipping over hazards as you do.
It’s easy to compare the fluidity of Seafrog’s movement to classic Tony Hawk games, but with a twist: your tricks have real gameplay utility. They boost you, fuel your wrench, and open up new traversal possibilities. That old-school skate game muscle memory? It’ll serve you well here.
The game opens with a tutorial-style home ship, giving you a space to experiment. From there, the complexity ramps up nicely, never overwhelming, but always adding something new, whether it’s a new trick, a tougher layout, or just space to explore for secrets.
Style Meets Substance
Where Seafrog really wins is in its freedom of movement. You can go slow and cautious, or string together stylish combos and trick through the world with reckless flair. You’ll hit challenge rooms that test your combo abilities, but the game doesn’t punish casual players. It simply rewards skilful play with bonuses and bragging rights. Low-skill floor and high-style ceiling are winning formulas.
Upgrades also help keep things spicy. You can obtain wrench mods to adjust your stats and new tricks and abilities. There’s even a handy reminder menu so you’re never stuck wondering how to pull off that killer mid-air twist-grind again.

Low Poly, High Charm
Visually, Seafrog adopts a vibrant 2.5d aesthetic that’s reminiscent of the PS1 era but polished for modern eyes. Think blocky charm, but with clean animations and a vivid palette. The ships you explore are creatively designed and feel alive with moving parts, hidden corners, and strange NPCS.
Seafrog himself is bursting with personality, equal parts cheeky and determined. Whether he’s chatting with fishy NPCS or blasting through sea slugs with wrench-fueled vengeance, he’s a joy to watch.
The game’s lighthearted tone and witty dialogue balance the arcade challenge with a cosy, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of game that’s just as fun to watch someone else play as it is to play yourself, and that’s no small feat.

Conclusion: Catch the Wave
Seafrog is the kind of indie gem that dares to do something different, and totally sticks the landing (and the trick combo). With smooth gameplay, charming presentation, and a clever mash-up of genres, it’s a sea-soaked adventure that feels fresh at every turn.
If you’ve got a love for platformers, skating games, or just weird and wonderful premises, then this frog’s for you. Strap in, hold your wrench tight, and get ready to grind the high seas in style.
Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot
