The Gameplay of Puzzle Dazzle
Puzzle Dazzle is a Tetris puzzle game. We rotate and drop colorful blocks, matching them to the same colored blocks to eliminate them. While in Tetris, we match blocks by shape, here, we do it by color. It sounds simple, but in reality, Puzzle Dazzle is quite challenging.
As we progress through the levels, more colors are introduced, making them more difficult. Each level has its own objective: eliminating a certain number of blocks in a particular color.
Thankfully, we have different combos and boosters on our side. We have three types of boosters – a bomb that clears several blocks simultaneously, a swapping option that changes the colors of a block, and an option to clear a whole row or a column of blocks. We don’t get boosters at each level – once we run out of them, we need to pass several levels and play mini-games to get more boosters. We create combos by eliminating several blocks one after another. If we drop a block and don’t destroy a block, we break the chain and stop the combo.
The game has 50 challenging levels, and there are two modes of play: arcade mode, where we pass levels, and survival mode, where we play against the clock and players around the world.
Puzzle Dazzle features a varied soundtrack and backgrounds. The music can be turned off and on, and some of the backgrounds include animations as well.
Some Other Things
Puzzle Dazzle has Steam achievements but no trading cards yet. A demo is also available. The game has basic audio and graphics settings and three difficulty levels: cozy, moderate, and expert.
