Successor Cassette Beasts 2002

Raw Fury and UK developer Bytten Studio have revealed Cassette Beasts 2002, the next instalment in the critically acclaimed creature-collecting series Cassette Beasts. The game is currently in development and is planned for release on PC via Steam and Windows, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

A New Setting Inspired By 2000s London

Cassette Beasts 2002 takes players to Nodnol, a retro-inspired setting described as a nostalgic ode to 2000s London. Here, you explore a world where humans and beasts collide, uncovering an occultist’s plot while transforming into a wide range of creatures.

The game is designed to welcome both returning fans and newcomers, offering a fresh entry point into the series alongside its expanded features and setting.

Expanded Battles And Creature System

At the heart of Cassette Beasts 2002 is its turn-based battle system. You can seek out, record, and transform into powerful beast forms to gain the advantage in combat. Battles are built around combining utility, support, and offensive abilities, alongside elemental strengths.

Enemies will also adapt over time, learning from your tactics and returning with new strategies, adding an evolving challenge to encounters.

The game features more than 250 beasts, with evolutionary lines and the ability to fuse forms. This system allows for over 50,000 possible combinations, each fully animated.

Companions And Multiplayer Features

You will meet 12 companions throughout your journey, each with their own stories, motivations, and quests. Relationships can be developed further, including the option to befriend or romance them, which in turn strengthens your team and unlocks more powerful fused forms.

Multiplayer is also a key part of the experience. You can trade cassettes, take part in 1v1 battles with power scaling, and team up with friends in encounters. There are also timed objectives and a shared story mode centred on solving the occult mystery.

Building On A Beloved Game

We reviewed the original Cassette Beasts and gave it our highest rating, saying in conclusion:

Cassette Beasts is a fantastic game with plenty of charm, great gameplay, and a groovy soundtrack. I could highly recommend it to anyone who loves playing a great game. The narrative aspects should keep a playthrough for about 8 – 18 hours, but those who wish to collect all the monsters and complete all side quests could expect to be playing for up to around 50 hours. There is plenty to do in New Wirral, take the leap of discovery and become a Cassette Beast Ranger!

So, we are looking forward to the new game!
