Super Farming Boy is a blend of action, puzzle, and farming simulation, delivering a different gaming experience that relies heavily on chain reactions and combos. As you dive into the quirky world of the Super Farming Boy demo, you’ll find a refreshing twist on the farming genre.
Super Farming Boy Storyline

In Super Farming Boy, you step into the shoes of Super, a resilient farmer whose mum and friends have been captured by the malevolent KORPO®©TM. This nasty purple villain has unlawfully taken over your land, taxing all your hard-earned proceeds for his own gain. He also kidnaps your loved ones and puts them up for sale.

So, you must harvest your way through a series of wacky challenges to save enough coins to rescue them. It’s a tale of determination, friendship, and the spirit of a farmer willing to go to any lengths to reclaim his life and loved ones.
Innovative Mechanics

Unlike traditional farming sims, there are no tools here because Super Boy has Superhero powers, and he is all the tools you will need.
With a simple push of a button, Super Boy can transform into a variety of farming equipment: a shovel, hammer, pickaxe, and watering can. He can also fly, which is fun to do, and it adds something else that’s different from the usual.

The game revolves around chain reactions and combos of crops. The seeds in Super Farming Boy are magic, and they can also walk. When you buy seeds in the shop, they follow you back to your patch of land, which I thought was hilarious when I saw them at first, and it made me laugh.
Then, you pick up and carry a seed and plant it on a patch of earth. After you plant and water the seeds and then harvest them, depending on the layout of the crops, it triggers specific chain-reaction effects, similar to match-3 games. By planting the seeds in the right positions, you can harvest a single crop and then watch the chain and combo effects, and your entire farm gets harvested all at once.
Combos Are Crucial

These combos are crucial for defending against creatures that roam your land at night and for optimising your daily stamina bar, which, once depleted, means the day is over.
During gameplay, you must keep your patch of land free of weeds and such, so you’ll also chop down trees, demolish boulders, remove weeds, collect items, and defeat bosses. The result of planting crops and so on results in an engaging gameplay loop that keeps you on your toes.
At night, once Super goes to sleep, KORPO®©TM returns and takes all the crops and resources Super has collected, and you earn some coins, which can be used to buy more seeds in the shop or food used when Super’s stamina is low.
Seasons and Weather in the Full Release

When the full game is released, there will be Boss Fights. and power-ups for Super Boy that will provide instant effects, such as Daylight during the night, Instant Weather changing effects, and more mysterious effects.
Super Farming Boy will also take a whimsical approach to weather and seasons. You’ll encounter Radioactive Season, Timewarp Season, and Volcanic Season, each bringing unique challenges and opportunities. There will even be an underwater season that completely changes the way you play. These unusual seasons should add a layer of unpredictability and excitement to the farming routine.
Controls and Accessibility
Super Farming Boy is designed with touch controls in mind, so I tried the demo on the Steam Deck, and it works perfectly.
The gameplay ensures everything is draggable, tappable, and pokeable, making it accessible to players of all ages. Whether you prefer classic joystick controllers, a keyboard, or touch, the full game will support them all simultaneously.
Final Thoughts
The Super Farming Boy demo is a brilliant mix of action, puzzles, and farming simulation that offers a fresh take on the genre. With its fun story, innovative gameplay mechanics, and vibrant and colourful world, it’s a game that promises hours of fun and entertainment.
However, there were times while playing the demo I felt lost, which was mainly due to the demo not telling me something until I had already discovered it for myself; a more in-depth tutorial would help with that, especially for newcomers to the genre. I really enjoyed the demo, and just like a big kid, I was disappointed when it came to an end.

Even though the Steam Next Fest may be over, the demo for Super Farming Boy is still available to download on the Steam page until the 15th of July. The game will be released on Early Access in Q2 of 2025 on Steam and Epic Games Store.
But before then, why not dive into this adventure and see if you have what it takes to save your loved ones and reclaim your farm from the clutches of KORPO®©TM? If you like it, consider adding the game to your Wishlist.
