Upcoming Steam Games August 2024

Welcome. It’s time to look at the Upcoming Steam Games in August 2024 that we have on our radar. But aside from our Upcoming Steam Games, if you play on Nintendo Switch, we also have an Upcoming Switch Games article here.

Upcoming Steam Games

Furthermore, not all games to be released are on the list here. Alternatively, you will see games that the other gaming sites don’t mention. We are taking notice of these games, and you can expect reviews for many of them if given half a chance! It should be noted that unless we have some personal experience with the game, there’s a link to the descriptions on the Steam website.

Star Wars Bounty Hunter – August 1st

Upcoming Steam Games Star Wars Bounty Hunter

In this classic third-person action-adventure, you’ll become Jango Fett, Prime Clone of the Grand Army of the Republic, hired to capture a deranged Dark Jedi.

Fight your way through the galaxy’s underbelly, equipped with Dual Blasters, your Flamethrower, Whipcord, and pure Mandalorian Rage.

James reviewed the game for us, saying in his conclusion:

Star Wars Bounty Hunter successfully revives a beloved classic, delivering an experience that combines nostalgia with a few modern enhancements. The game’s engaging combat, updated visuals, and authentic Star Wars atmosphere make it a must-play for fans of the franchise and action-adventure enthusiasts.

Tavern Manager Simulator – August 5th

Upcoming Steam Games Tavern Manager Simulator logo.

Tavern Manager Simulator is an exciting process of rebuilding, expanding and improving a tavern. Take different approaches to running an establishment and meet the challenges of the outside world to create your own unique story.

Mina liked the game a lot, and wrote in conclusion:

I really like this game. I think with a couple of tweaks, it could be one of my favorite new restaurant simulation games. And this is coming from a woman who put more than 300 hours into Plate Up! last year! I would like to see some additions made to it, like the addition of a multiplayer mode, more conversations and decorations, and more ways to customize your tavern. Tavern Manager Simulator is a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing if the developers plan to make any changes in the future.

Fields of Mistria – August 5th

Upcoming Steam Games Fields of Mistria

Mistria, an idyllic village tucked between forest and sea, has offered you an overgrown but full-of-potential homestead in exchange for your assistance. Restore the town to its former glory after an earthquake wreaks havoc and strange magic begins to flow through the land.

In this spiritual successor to the Farm-Sim RPGs of the late 90s & onward, build the farm of your dreams as you discover magic, romance, and adventure!

Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid – August 5th

A cheerful scene from Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid features a young boy with a net running joyfully along a coastal path. Bright sunflowers flank the foreground while a scenic ocean and a distant lighthouse enhance the idyllic summer atmosphere. Published on: LadiesGamers.

A circus troupe comes to Yomogi Town, a rural town in Japan situated between mountains and the ocean. As the son of the circus ringmaster, enjoy a special summer filled with adventures!

All of Yomogi Town and the nature surrounding it are an open world where you can enjoy summer to its fullest. Immerse yourself in nostalgic scenery filled with towering clouds, beautiful sunsets, and the sound of cicadas.

Summer days are always filled with activities like fishing at the river or catching rare bugs in a field. Help the circus succeed and interact with the townspeople if you’d like. Enjoy a night at the summer festival, dancing and watching fireworks. There’s even a train so you can visit a neighbouring town. Your own special summer vacation filled with unique experiences awaits!

I reviewed the game and had a lot of fun with the game. Here’s my conclusion:

Not knowing what to expect and then finding a gem is the best feeling for me. Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid is the perfect game to bring back memories of the lazy summer days of my youth when the vacation seemed to stretch endlessly with little adventures and good friends. Exploration is what makes this game great for me; there is so much to discover. The visuals, voice acting and sounds make this a very immersive adventure. And with the DLC already available, I can extend my adventure even more!

Preserve – August 8th

Upcoming Steam Games The image features a serene, nature-themed scene from the video game Preserve. It showcases a lush, green island with a cascading waterfall flowing from rocky cliffs into a tranquil pool below. The landscape is dotted with pine trees and colorful flowers. A playful fox frolics in the grass, chasing vibrant butterflies under a clear blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds and soaring birds. Published on: LadiesGamers.

Preserve is a puzzle nature-building game that takes players on a journey into a harmonious ecosystem. The objective is to foster and sustain thriving and diverse biomes where each component coexists in symbiotic harmony. By utilising strategic thinking and a keen eye for balance, players are granted the power to position a wide array of plants and animals, curating an environment that caters to their preferences and aspirations.

In Preserve, you can expand the map not only horizontally but also possess the ability to stack layers of nature, forming a vertical network of interconnected habitats.

I checked out the early access version of this game, and loved it:

When I’m writing about a game, and I can’t wait to stop writing and just go play again, that’s saying something. Even in the Early Access release, Preserve works well and feels great to play. Maybe the puzzles could be a little less hard so early on, but otherwise, I look forward to everything else the game has to offer!

Upcoming Steam Games SteamWorld Heist II

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery – August 13th

A whimsical, colourful illustration from "Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery" shows a cartoon spaceship with a detective, a red-haired person, an octopus, and a corgi inside. They float through a starry sky filled with planets and various objects. The game's title is prominently displayed in the centre.

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is a cozy hidden object game that has you searching for hidden objects in hand-drawn, interactive landscapes. Ignite your imagination, unleash your inner artist with the editor and share your masterpieces with the world!

Dive into three captivating eras: Victorian elegance, Noir mystery, and Sci-fi wonder. Test your keen eye and unravel the mysteries hidden within each intricate scene. Can you uncover every secret the past (and future) holds?

Paula enjoyed the game a lot, and wrote in her conclusion:

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is a lovely hidden object game that offers a blend of relaxation and challenge. Its beautifully drawn scenes, calming music, and engaging gameplay make it fun to play. If you have played the previous games in the series, you will most likely enjoy Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery and feel right at home, as the gameplay is similar to the previous one.

Leximan – August 13th

A dynamic and monochromatic illustration from the video game Leximan, featuring a central figure in a wizard's hat and cape, surrounded by whimsical elements like a flying car, magical symbols, and various characters in action poses. The design is bold, with contrasting black and white tones accented by scattered stars and colorful letters. Published on: LadiesGamers.

Do you like silly hats? Were you that one kid in class who broke reality? Are you eating nutritional slime right now? Embark on a brilliant adventure, using words and incompetence to solve bizarre problems. There are also hat goblins.

In Leximan, you play as a wizard with the extraordinary ability to use Leximancy, a special magic driven by language. Despite your magical prowess, you’ve been banished to the school’s basement due to some past magical mishaps. However, your life takes a turn when Academy Elementinia is attacked, giving you a chance to use your skills to save the school—or cause more magical chaos!

The game features a unique word-based encounter system where you cast spells by forming words. It promises a wholesome story about self-acceptance, mixed with humorous elements like kicking a trout. With various puzzles, mini-games, and countless ways to play, Leximan encourages you to succeed in your own quirky style.

Margaret gave the game our highest rating, writing in conclusion:

Leximan is an incredibly charming, slapstick take on puzzle games designed for players who can learn to love the world of words in all of its goofy potential. As clunky as it all seems, it’s a game with a lot more going on behind the scenes than you’d imagine, and its cleverness is never used to make you feel like you’re doing something wrong. Instead, joke answers and silliness can lead to ah-ha! moments, and the occasional groan if you know what sins puns commit upon society.

Gourdlets – August 15th

An easygoing sandbox game about building towns for cute vegetable folks. Create your perfect community then watch as the gourdlets make themselves at home. No objectives, no points, just good vibes. Play in full screen, or let your gourdlets hang out at the bottom of your screen!

Paula enjoyed the game a lot, writing in conclusion:

Gourdlets is a perfect game for anyone looking to unwind and tap into their creative side. Its charm lies in its simplicity and the freedom it offers to players.

If you’re in the mood for a stress-free, feel-good game that allows you to create and relax at your own pace, Gourdlets is definitely worth your time. Whether you are playing it in full screen or letting the gourdlets keep you company in idle mode, this game is all about the feel-good vibes.

Shapez 2 – August 15th

Upcoming steam games shapez 2

Shapez 2 is a top-down factory-building game where you extract and process geometric shapes. Each shape is its own set of building blocks that your factories can take apart, stack, paint and put back together in unique ways. Build and automate to produce distinct shapes and solve the production challenge of each goal.

Automate the processing of abstract geometric shapes into more complex ones by cutting, rotating, stacking, painting and more. Deliver distinct shapes to unlock new technologies and expand your factory’s capabilities. Learn, improve, rebuild and solve logistical challenges to design the most efficient shape production lines.

Paula checked out the early access release, writing:

In its current early access state, shapez 2 is already shaping up (yep, that’s a pun) to be more than a worthy successor to the original. The new features, especially the 3D factories and space trains, add a level of complexity and depth that should keep players engaged for hours. Personally, I love it.

For fans of factory-building games like Factorio, shapez 2 offers a fresh challenge with its expanded mechanics and new dimensionality. If you enjoyed the first game, or if you’re new to the series and looking for a satisfying automation puzzle, shapez 2 is definitely well worth diving into, even in its early access form. As the game continues to evolve, it’s exciting to think about where it might go next.

Castaway – August 16th

Upcoming Steam Games Castaway

Embark on an action-packed adventure in Castaway, diving players into a pixelated and retro universe. Assume the role of Martin, whose spaceship crash-landed on an uncharted island where hostile creatures took his faithful pet. Retrieve your weapons and venture out to rescue your kidnapped companion in this endearing and unexpectedly dynamic world.

Beat the three bosses in the concise and delightful Story Mode to unlock the thrilling and addictive Survivor Mode. Ascend a 50-floor tower, with each level presenting increasingly challenging trials!

James reviewed the game, and wrote in his conclusion:

Castaway may be short and may not bring much new to the table in terms of gameplay, but it has a lot of charm. From its nostalgic pixel design to its variety of difficulty settings, Castaway offers a pleasant gaming experience perfect for a warm summer weekend. Whether you’re playing alone or sharing the game with a younger player, the adventure feels worthwhile despite its brevity. Here’s hoping the game finds an audience so we can see more from this developer in the future.

Dustborn – August 20th

Upcoming Steam Games Dustborn

Dustborn is a single-player, story-driven action-adventure game about hope, love, friendships, robots and the power of words.

You play Pax: exile, con artist, Anomal — with the ability to weaponise language. Looking for a new life and a way out, Pax has been hired to transport an important package from Pacifica to Nova Scotia across the Justice-controlled American Republic. That sounds like a legitimate reason for a road trip, right? So pack your bags, assemble a crew with their own peculiar powers, and get ready to travel the country!

Elemental Exiles – August 20th

The image shows the cover art for Elemental Exiles. Four characters, each representing a different element, stand ready for battle against a fiery, volcanic background. The title "Elemental Exiles" is prominently displayed in bold, metallic letters. Published on: LadiesGamers.

Elemental Exiles is an RPG deckbuilding roguelike. Play as one of 12 heroes, each with their own personal quest, starting location and initial cards. Overcome challenging battles and adapt to unexpected narrative encounters as you grow your deck and explore.

Margaret has a lot of mixed feelings about Elemental Exiles. There are a lot of cool things that the developers added to the Rogue-like deckbuilder that were fun and interesting, but there were just too many downsides. I’m pretty torn about Elemental Exiles because I love so many parts of it. However, the durability system and the card RNG are hard to overlook. I’m just not sure what to think about it.

Mika and The Witch’s Mountain – August 21st

Upcoming Steam Games Mika and The Witch's Mountain

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a fantasy adventure about an aspiring witch who delivers packages to the townspeople of a small island. Explore every nook and cranny and soar through the sky with your magic broom.

This coming-of-age journey will take us to the top of the mountain through a story of effort, friendship, and community and will let our hearts fly free.

Lynne liked the game, saying in conclusion:

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a short adventure, about flying around on a broomstick, delivering parcels.

At times, I found controlling the broomstick a bit frustrating, and this did impact on my overall enjoyment. However, the scenery is great, with bright colours and a diverse landscape, and the ability to see all of this from the air enhances the experience.

Elrentaros Wanderings – August 22nd

Upcoming Steam Games Elrentaros Wanderings

Elrentaros Wanderings is a brand-new action RPG. The story is set in Elrentaros, a remote town far away from the capital of Melvania.

The adventure begins as the protagonist visits this town and tries to help the residents, each with distinctive personalities. Suddenly, a mysterious light appears that leads the protagonist to a completely different world. Could it be that this world is the real world? Learn the secrets of the two worlds!

Margaret checked the game out on Switch, but was left in doubt, saying:

I’m not going to give this game our worst score; it runs well, and as I say, it will find a few players who wanted something like the equally streamlined Snack World, without its particular twee nonsense. But as a full-price game with a pedigree that used to bring hope and cheer to its audience, I am genuinely disappointed with the results.
