Former Kickstarter Ova Magica has a Steam Demo coming, and recent Kickstarter Sugardew Island is fully funded, and Pathless Woods entered Early Access.
Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge Hops on Switch and PC
At the beginning of this year, Valerie took Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge for a demo spin and thought that the game was shaping up to be a great find for fans of cosy sims. Good news: the game is coming to Switch as well, in a simultaneous launch this year.
In Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge, you step into the shoes of Cleo, who finds herself in need of a much-deserved break. Reconnecting with her childhood friend Axel, Cleo makes her way back home to help him on a restoration project, where together, they will rebuild their local wetlands and foster a home for Axel’s favourited critters – frogs!
Transform the wetlands from a withered wasteland into a soothing sanctuary. Place furniture throughout this blank canvas, including comfy sofas, slippery slides, or refreshing bathtubs, for more than 500 froggy friends across eight different species to enjoy! Collect resources and craft them into goods to sell for additional funds to improve the retreat.
Dig ponds, practice paludiculture – that’s a fancy word for wetland crops! – and welcome friendly visitors to attract as many colourful croakers as possible. The more frogs that enter the sanctuary, the more variations Cleo and Axel will discover. Fill out the Frogedex by photographing and documenting new breeds, each with their own patterns and preferences in food. Meet a dozen different characters ready to help restore the wetlands in 3 distinct biomes.
It sure sounds lovely, especially with vibrant visuals inspired by calming watercolour art and a quaint atmosphere and a light-hearted soundtrack!
Musical puzzle Adventure The Lullaby of Life is Close
The Lullaby of Life, a musical puzzle adventure from developer 1 Simple Game and publisher Midwest Games, strums its way to PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Fanatical on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024.
In the game, you glide through a budding wonderland of sound and creation as Bombo, a curious particle on a musical journey to unlock the secrets of the universe. Utilize echoing sound waves to solve puzzles and blast through barriers. Link up with musically gifted companions known as Ohmies to craft more complex melodies. Awaken grand bosses after each level to accelerate the creation of new life and experience the growth of the cosmos.
Wholesome Game Bunhouse Coming to Xbox and PlayStation
I’m a fan of Bunhouse. It’s one of the only games I own on both Steam and Switch, so I couldn’t wait to share the news that publisher Digirati is now bringing it to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S from 12th April.
Bunhouse will be priced $19.99. Offering stress-free gardening fun for a chilled and rewarding experience, Bunhouse can be enjoyed solo or in couch co-op for up to four players. If you’re gonna start pottering and planting too, here’s our starter guide!
Ova Magica Demo Coming
A former Kickstarter project from 2021, Ova Magica, is doing well in terms of actually bringing us the adorable farming and monster-taming game in 2024.
ClaudiaTheDev announced that Ova Magica will be available as a public demo in the Steam Next Fest June 17th.
Kickstarter Sugardew Island Funded
Cosy and fun-looking Sugardew Island’s Kickstarter campaign ended yesterday, and not surprisingly, it was fully funded. 2,166 backers pledged €95.092 to help bring this project to life and shattered the goal of €30.000!
Expanded character selection, a bigger farm shop and house and a character editor are unlocked as well. As are a choice between several fences and floor slabs for your farm field, more colourful fruits and plants, and more colourful livestock colours you will also be able to adopt wild animal friends.
Pathless Woods Entered Early Access
An interesting new farming survival game has entered Early Access on Steam. Pathless Woods sets itself apart with its ancient Chinese theme, though, and it combines elements of construction, exploration, and survival in a beautifully crafted world.
Get ready for an adventure in Pathless Woods, where you can build anything from basic bridges to stunning pagodas, collect resources, dive into traditional Chinese farming, and defend your lands from foes. Plus, with the new co-op multiplayer mode, you can join forces with friends to explore and enjoy a world where excitement and peace come together.
I’ll be taking a look at the game myself and make a preview, but if you can’t wait to see it, there’s a demo in the Steam shop.
