Summer has a special way of slowing things down. Mostly because a lot of people will have some free days to spend, are going on a holiday, or just enjoy the long evenings outside. But even if you’re not off work, you can look forward to some quiet time with the colleagues gone and you being able to catch up on your tasks.
In this YvoCaro Plays, I’ll take you through some soundtracks that capture that feeling of Summer. From the gentle sway of ocean waves in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker to the laid-back island rhythms of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In this article, we take a stroll through some of the most relaxing and uplifting summer tracks in gaming, perfect for bringing a little sunshine and calm into your day, whether you are playing or just listening.
I’ve collected them in this YouTube Playlist, so even if you can’t play your games due to being stuck at work or better still, lounging by the pool, you can still enjoy them.
Ocean – The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
No matter that The Wind Waker is a topic for some discussions between Zelda fans due to the art style of the game, the music is ace. And it does exactly what all Zelda soundtracks do: hearing it makes you want to jump right back into the game. This track carries that sense of open adventure with soft waves and airy melodies that evoke long, sunlit days spent sailing between islands. You can’t go wrong with this on your Summer day.
Kapp’n Song – Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Many of the tracks of Animal Crossing games qualify for this list. Wander about during the night hours in Summer and hear the insects buzzing and chirping around. So life-like! Still, I chose this one, Kapp’n’s Song. As his boat glides across the water in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this tune never fails to make me smile at his silly song. It perfectly reflects the relaxed island life.

Build Mode – The Sims 4 Island Living
To be honest, I’ve never played The Sims. Tried it in the past, but it doesn’t click for me. But I’ve heard this track while my daughter was playing, as she is a big fan. The Sims 4 Island Living boast tropical rhythms, making building creatively feel as breezy as a warm summer afternoon.
Summer – Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a beloved game for our writers’ team, so one of its tracks just had to go on this list. The nostalgic notes of this track make you feel like long days spent tending crops under a clear blue sky.
Somewhere in the Woods – A Short Hike
One of the first cozy games that had us spellbound, A Short Hike is all about slowing down and enjoying the journey. The track carries a soft, reflective mood, much like a peaceful walk through sun-dappled trees.

Moon Bright – Coffee Talk
Coffee Talk is a sweet little visual novel game with amazing artwork and one of the chillest soundtracks we’ve ever heard in a game. Moon Bright fits that tone perfectly; the chill-vibe tunes fit a Summer evening perfectly.
Main Theme – Tchia
Tchia, is a game that Paula reviewed one Summer many years ago. It’s a love story of the New Caledonia region and its people, and the gameplay is fun and pretty satisfying, with many quests for the player to complete and collectables to find. Inspired by tropical landscapes, Tchia’s main theme bursts with warmth and authenticity. It captures the spirit of island exploration, filled with sunshine, culture, and the joy of discovery.

Harv’s Island (Night) – Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Another great Animal Crossing title. As night falls on Harv’s Island, the music becomes softer and brings a cosy, twilight atmosphere, perfect for winding down after a busy summer day.
Hateno Village (Day) – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Another track that I couldn’t resist for this list. Not sure what to do next in Breath of the Wild? Just go to Hateno Village, it feels alive with gentle energy. The music has a welcoming, almost homely quality, making it a perfect soundtrack for quiet exploration.

Jump Up, Super Star! – Super Mario Odyssey
Time for a soundtrack with a little more pep. Brimming with energy and joy, this track adds a playful burst of sunshine to the playlist. Featured in Super Mario Odyssey, it captures the excitement and charm of Mario’s globe-trotting adventure.
Rainbow Summer Opening Theme – Atelier Ryza
This might be an unknown for many of you, but the soundtracks of the Atelier games transport me straight back into the games. This one, the Rainbow Summer Opening Theme, is bright and uplifting. It carries a sense of youthful adventure and endless summer days filled with discovery.

Theme Song – Crayon Shin chan: Summer Vacation
That was a surprise for me, that I really enjoyed Shin chan games games! I was never a big fan of the little boy when my daughter wanted to watch the anime many years ago, so I was a bit sceptical. But I have really warmed up to him, even though he is still a strange little boy. This cheerful theme recalls the simple fun of childhood summers. See Shin chan’s world with a kind of childlike wonder, where every day feels like a new little adventure.
Lurelin Village – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Tucked away by the sea, Lurelin Village offers another peaceful corner of Hyrule. The music has soft island tones that instantly transport you to a quiet coastal retreat.
Resort Daytime – Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise
The last track is the very essence of summertime: who doesn’t want to spend time in this Happy Home Paradise, an add-on game to Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
