In Capslock, you play as someone who has recently inherited their Grandpa’s typewriter store, with the caveat of revamping it for the modern age.

Injecting a New Lease of Life
The inevitable has happened. Our Grandpa has decided to relinquish his old typewriter store and hand over the reigns to us in the hopes that we can bring a more modern twist under our management.
It’s up to us now. With a trusty new name (of your choosing) and some basic keys to get us started, here we go.

Everything In Its Right Place
Let’s get down to business! You start with a very basic keyboard – so basic, in fact, that not even the keys are in place yet. We are not only tasked with selling keyboards; we need to make them, too!
Depending on how you like to play these kinds of games, you can either place keys manually or use the autofill feature. I have to admit, I eventually found placing each key individually tiring, so autofill has been my friend.

Making the Keyboard Stand Out
If you can think of a colour, Capslock has it in the built-in store. Of course, we need to sell some keyboards first to gain coins to buy new keys, but you start with a few in your inventory at the beginning of a game, so it’s not too hard to make some beginner keyboards just to get some bucks to buy more elaborate colours and designs.
Not only can you edit the colours of the keys, but you can also buy skins and edit the font used on the keyboard letters. I haven’t found a way to buy new fonts, so I’m not sure if you’re limited to the ones available or whether they’re unlockable through gameplay. If buying new fonts isn’t a feature, then I’d love for this to be implemented in a future update. I live for customisation, and Capslock has this in spades in other areas.
You can even change the keyboard so that it has LED lights in various colours. Cool, huh?!
There are also other keyboard layouts that you can customise too – number pads, 108 key keyboard and many more.

You’ve Got Mail
Anyone remember AOL email that had the voice “you’ve got mail”? Anyway, I digress. After we have created our awesome new keyboards we need to sell them. This is just as simply as clicking a button that says “put for sale”. After that, our newly made keyboard will disappear from our screen ready for us to create a new one.
However, you’ll start getting mail from potential buyers. You can either accept or reject their offers. Some of the offers can be quite low and always have me tutting “My work is worth more than that!” The next offer might be higher, but it might also be lower.
Something I haven’t quite deciphered is what dictates how much a keyboard might sell for. Some of the keyboards I’ve sold for peanuts are ones that I think are way better than the ones that I’ve sold for 1000+ coins. I don’t know if there’s a science as to how the fee someone will pay is calculated or if it’s purely random.
Final Thoughts
Capslock is a game which is brilliant in its execution and has alot of potential and scope for more features. I’d love to be able to buy more fonts in game like new colour keys and skins so I’m hoping this is something that could be included in a future update. You can check out Capslock on Steam here.
