The second chapter of the Duck Detective series is here: Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping. I was lucky enough to play the first, Duck Detective: The Secret Salami, so I was very excited to see the second chapter.

What is Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping Like to Play?

Just like the previous Duck Detective game, you spend a lot of time running around, chatting with NPCs and studying their possessions. Each of these gives you words and clues to help you solve the whole mystery that you are currently trying to solve.

Once you have gathered enough words together, you will be able to make Deducktions with your Duck Detective skills and smarts. This is a paragraph where some of the words are missing, and you need to fill in the blanks. After everything is filled in, the Duck Detective will talk about what you have figured out together.

We’re going where now?

There isn’t much else to Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping; it’s a very short and sweet little puzzle adventure game with cute graphics, cartoon heroes, and one big mystery to solve. It’s not a challenging puzzle game, but it is intriguing with interesting characters, great voice acting, and just a really good overall feel to it.

The Pros of Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping

What can I say that I didn’t say about the first episode of Duck Detective? It’s short, sweet, funny, and a whole lot of fun. It’s a pretty cozy mystery; there’s nothing you wouldn’t want even young children not to see. That being said, the stakes do feel a little higher in this one than in the first.

Some nice changes have been made since the first one. Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping had a hint system that was pretty good that I don’t recall being in the first one. There was also a normal mode and an easy mode in this one that I don’t think was available in The Secret Salami. I like anything that makes games more accessible to more people, so I was pretty happy with the changes.

The Cons of Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping

Overall, there weren’t a whole lot of changes, but those that I saw were really positive ones. But there was one change that I wasn’t a huge fan of: the length. Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping felt much shorter than The Secret Salami. There were significantly fewer NPC interactions, fewer Deducktions, and overall just less content.

I’m not sure why they decided to cut this episode short, but I hope the price of this episode reflects that change.

Conclusion

If you liked The Secret Salami, you will love Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping. If you haven’t played The Secret Salami yet, play that one first. This one picks up with the story from the end of the previous one, so there are some characters you won’t know unless you finished the first one.

I was super sad when Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping ended; I think this episode was too short. But other than that, I had no issues with this beautiful, funny, adorable game from a developer I already loved deeply. Excellent work once again.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up
Two thumbs up
