Happy New Year wishes for 2025

Happy New Year!

From all of us here at LadiesGamers: we wish you a very happy 2025 with loads of gaming fun! We also want to take this moment to thank you for reading what we bring you. And if you are a Patron: thank you, it means a lot for us!

With 2024 behind us, we are ready to take on a new year, bringing you loads of reviews for indie games and some big titles, too. These are mainly games made by developers and brought to you by publishers who need every bit of exposure we can give them, for there are lots of gems to talk about! In between the reviews, we will bring you news about cozy gaming and other things about everyday life combined with our gaming passion.

The Team behind LadiesGamers

Let me start the year by presenting our team, as without their dedication and hard work this would not be possible.

In 2024 we had to say goodbye to our writers Valerie and Lottie as they have real life obligations that couldn’t be combined with writing for the site anymore. We want to thank them for their work and great articles they contributed!

We start 2025 with these people being a part of our team:

Paula Moore: Paula has been my gaming friend for many, many years, and it was a hallmark moment in August 2018 when she decided to join the site to write reviews. Pretty soon, she started helping me run the site, and for the past six years, I can safely say LadiesGamers wouldn’t be what it is now without her. Paula is our steady force, the one who remembers which reviews we have made and which codes we have asked for. We divide what has to be done as the site (or baby, as we call it) demands our daily attention. She lives with her partner in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and aside from her LadiesGamers hobby, has 7 grandchildren to keep her busy.

James Luff: James joined us in March 2020. He lives in the UK with Melissa, his little boy Flynn and a new baby on the way. You’ve no doubt seen many reviews by James’ hand on LadiesGamers. He always says that he is willing to pick up review codes that aren’t fancied by the other writers, though he does have his preferred genre. He used to prefer gaming on his Switch, but since he has acquired a SteamDeck, Steam games are welcomed, too. When Paula and I browse the upcoming games to see which games we want to be reviewed, we can always spot a potential James game: platforming in 2D or 3D, rogue-lite or arcade games will always rock his boat. Oh, and any games with Otters in it!

Mina Smith: Mina, living in Richmond, Virginia, in the United States, joined our team in June 2021 and quickly became a steady addition to our team. She is a full-time writer and editor, writing fiction for herself but also for a number of clients. Plus, she also writes for GameRant, mostly about big AAA titles. At LadiesGamers she wants to focus on the much less-known Indie titles and loves reviewing cat games! What stands out in her reviews is that when she’s enthusiastic about a game, you can read it all through her review!

Caroline van de Ven: First and foremost, Caroline is our graphic designer since the start. She makes the most beautiful artwork for the site, like the banner that you see on top of the homepage and she has designed a few wallpapers for our Patrons in Tier 3 as well. Aside from that, she is an accomplished writer as well, and loves Otome games. She has been reviewing quite a few of them for LadiesGamers since 2020.

Lynne Newey: She has been a part of our team since September 2022 and hails from England. Lynne started gaming in the 1980s. After many years playing and coding on an Amstrad CPC and then a PC, she discovered the wonderful world of Nintendo. She loves to play video games together with her son and making the reviews is a joint venture for them.
For some time now she also steps in when help is needed with editing on the site, and she knows her way behind the scenes tinkering away with our huge excel sheets that holds all our reviews!

Kalina Mikova: used to play games back when she was in school, through the 90s and early 2000s in Bulgaria. She stopped playing regularly around the time The Sims 2 came out and just started again during the pandemic. She joined LadiesGamers in April 2023 and has been writing away with a vengeance since then. That’s because, as much as she is a gamer at heart, she loves reading and writing about games even more. Kalina is a master at the hidden animals’ games, and like Mina, she loves cats!

Margaret David: has been a passionate gamer and writer for LadiesGamers.com ever since she joined us in February of this year. When you read a review from Margaret, you’ll recognise her deep appreciation for the gaming world and references to the vast array of games she has played. She has a particular fondness for a good dungeon crawler and adventure games. She feels that gaming is not only another form of escapism from a busy, troubled day, but it also hands back a feeling of control. And, of course, we can only agree with her!

Anni Large from the UK was the last to join our team in April 2024. She is a lover of video games and of board games, whose love of gaming started when her dad bought her an Amiga 500 and from that moment, she was hooked. She then progressed onto console gaming, and one of her favourite franchises of all time is “Tekken.” Since having her children, she has settled more into the cosy game lifestyle, opting to chill with a nice cup of tea and a few hours of Animal Crossing or Pokemon. She loves how accessible gaming has become for all ages and also champions accessibility in video games for those with disabilities, having M.E and Fibromyalgia herself.

Cécile: Cécile is from France, and you may not know her name as she works behind the scenes in tech stuff. She has been with us since August 2020 and kindly jumped in when we had a technical meltdown here at the site. She sure saved the day! Since then, she has occasionally written an article for LadiesGamers as well, like about her visits to Paris Game Week.

Plus, there’s me, of course! Ever since I started this blog that grew into LadiesGamers, it has given me positive energy—a perfect combination with my full-time job at a large bank. Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined we would see our 10-year anniversary. But we did, and we will strive to make it many more, as long as you, our Reader, love to read what we write.

So on behalf of our team, Happy Gaming!
