Hidden Capybaras with Orange in the Whimsical Library is a 2024 hidden object game developed and released by Whimsical Universe. It is a sequel to Hidden Capybaras with Orange, which Valerie reviewed earlier this year.

The Gameplay of Hidden Capybaras with Orange in the Whimsical Library

In Hidden Capybaras with Orange in the Whimsical Library, we have to find capybaras with oranges and owls hidden within four scenes—two daylight and two nighttime scenes. The pictures are actually two—one in the light and one in the dark. The capybaras and the owls are hidden in different spots for each of the scenes.

The pictures show a wonderfully detailed, whimsical library. The art style looks hand-drawn, but more importantly, the lines are crisp. There’s no chance to look at a scribble and wonder what it is. The pictures are not colored, but are on a colored background. Once you find a capybara, it’s colored blue, and the owls turn brown. The shades of the colors go well together.

Starting somewhere.

While the daylight setting allows you to look at all the small details within the pictures and little easter eggs to different fantasy and art intellectual properties, the real strength of the game is in the nighttime scenes. It’s also what I remember from the previous game – it looks spectacular how once you find a capybara, it lits up, giving a nice warm glow. Combined with the whimsical fantasy soundtrack, it makes for a very enjoyable half-hour of playtime.

Should you get stuck, Hidden Capybaras with Orange in the Whimsical Library has a very old-fashioned, meaning working hint system, with the hint showing you an area in which to look for a capybara or an owl. The hint recharge is also relatively short.

Some Other Things

Hidden Capybaras with Orange in the Whimsical Library has Steam achievements but no trading cards as of yet. In terms of options, we have basic audio settings and a full-screen/window-screen option. The game saves your progress automatically, but there’s also an option to reset it.

Conclusion

Hidden Capybaras with Orange in the Whimsical Library is a brief but fantastic little game about finding capybaras and owls in a magical library. It has no timers, and that, combined with the other elements of the gameplay, such as a fast recharging hint, nice soundtrack, and beautiful soundtrack, as well as several scenes, makes the whole game a great relaxing experience. I hope the developers have a new capybara game in the workings, for I can’t wait for the next one.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up: Two thumbs up
