Super Spy Raccoon: Stealth Meets Arcade
Super Spy Raccoon blends stealth mechanics with 80s arcade vibes, delivering a bold and original take on the retro genre. While many arcade-style games play it safe by mimicking popular classics, this one goes rogue, literally. The result? A quirky, mixed bag of stealthy nostalgia that’s as charming as it is occasionally frustrating.
Arcade Presentation
From the moment you boot it up, Super Spy Raccoon fully commits to its retro homage. It’s styled as if you were standing in front of an old arcade cabinet, complete with colourful side decals explaining basic instructions and high-score tips.
Visually, the game features charming pixel art with a personality all its own. You play as a purple raccoon in a sharp suit infiltrating enemy territory filled with hostile monkeys, owls with binoculars, and robotic sentries. The plot is as light as a feather because, let’s face it, you don’t play arcade games for their storytelling. You’re here to sneak, grab documents, and climb the leaderboard.

The Mission: Collect All the Documents
Each level is a single screen where your mission is simple: grab all the secret documents while avoiding detection. If you’re caught by an enemy, searchlight, or sentry, you lose a life and restart the level. Thankfully, any documents you’ve already collected remain banked, so you won’t have to start from scratch.
For the competitive types, collecting the documents in a specific order nets you a higher score, though it makes the levels more challenging. Lose all your lives? No worries, you can continue at the cost of half your score. This forgiving feature helps players learn level layouts before diving headfirst into high-score attempts.
Controls are refreshingly simple: move, jump, and hide. There’s no combat; your only options for staying alive are sneaking into bushes or using an invisibility power-up. But don’t get cocky with that cloak of invisibility, it doesn’t fool motion detectors, and bumping into an enemy still spells doom. The game demands careful navigation and quick reactions, keeping you on edge at all times.
Finish the initial five levels? You’ll loop back to the start with increased difficulty, like a true arcade game. This includes rearranging the high-score document order and extra challenges, such as your character’s silhouette disappearing when using power-ups.
Is It Fun or Frustrating?
On paper, Super Spy Raccoon ticks all the right arcade boxes: it’s simple, replayable, and challenging to master. But in practice, the stealth mechanics clash with the fast-paced, pick-up-and-play spirit of classic arcade games.
It’s also relentlessly punishing on some levels. There were moments when I barely stepped out of the starting zone before a sentry locked onto me like I owed it money. While this difficulty will appeal to arcade veterans, casual players might find themselves rage-quitting before fully appreciating the game’s charm.

Conclusion: Spy Hard
Super Spy Raccoon stands out for its originality, offering a fresh take on arcade-style gameplay with its stealth mechanics. It’s not the easiest game to warm up to, especially with its unforgiving detection system, but those willing to master its quirks may find it a satisfying challenge.
At its budget-friendly price, it’s worth a shot for arcade fans or anyone who wants to see a raccoon in a snazzy suit. Just be prepared for a few “game over” screens along the way.
Final Verdict: I Like it
