Honeymancer is a cute RPG with wave-based combat. In it, we play as a Bear Witch who uses honey magic to protect her forest and neighbors from evil robots.

The Premise of Honeymancer
The Bear Witch in Honeymancer lives in the forest, plants flowers, takes care of her bee buddies, and crafts potions with honey and herbs. One day, her forest is attacked by strange robots, and her neighbors ask for the Bear Witch’s help. While trying to discover the origin of the robots and to repel their attacks, the Bear Witch starts to explore the forest beyond her little clearing, starts to get to know her animal neighbors, and forge friendships.

Gameplay
Honeymancer is one of the cutest RPGs I’ve played in recent years. Each day as a Bear Witch starts and ends in the cutest little room, where we can find a craft station for potions and a recipe book. I liked that we have everything we need to start crafting potions immediately – there’s no need to unlock any recipes or traipse around collecting ingredients. We have several unlocked recipes, and besides following the order of ingredients and bottling the potion, there’s nothing else to do.
Our Bear Witch collects honey from her bee buddies, and to help them produce honey, she plants flowers. Once she starts fighting the robots, her thankful neighbors will send her flower seeds to plant each day.

Honeymancer uses WASD for movement on the keyboard, E for Interaction, and F for collecting honey. Combat is mouse-based—choosing a spell is with the right mouse button, and aiming and shooting is with the left mouse button.
Combat is wave-based, meaning enemy robots arrive in waves with some time in between. Combat is limited to specific zones and not spread out across the map. You can exit a combat zone anytime and reappear at the Bear Witch’s cottage. While fighting, we use honey to sustain our spells, and while there are no beehives inside the combat zone, we can recycle the robots we defeat, and every time we do that, we get a bit of honey back into our reserves. With some strategic thinking and careful shooting, it’s not overly challenging to beat a level of enemy robots.

We start with one spell – a honey ball, which can be used not only for shooting at robots but also for breaking down barriers, such as fallen trees on the road. As the game progresses, we’ll unlock more spells.
Another element of the game is the relationships we nurture with our animal neighbors. We can talk with specific characters and receive their requests. Fulfilling their requests progresses our relationships with them.

Some Other Things
There isn’t much content at the moment, but what is there is very cute. The developer has already released one update, which is a good sign for the game’s future. Right now, Honeymancer has basic audio and video settings, but it seems there are plans to include accessibility options down the line.
Honeymancer doesn’t have Steam achievements or Trading cards as of yet.
Final Thoughts
Honeymancer is a cute little game with great potential. It’s easy to pick up, and there isn’t much in terms of a learning curve, but that’s hardly a bad thing. It offers entertainment and cozy Spring vibes, and hopefully, there will be more content in the future as well.
