Kickstarter Calico got funded!

A month ago I mentioned Kickstarter Calico: Magical Girls Running Cat Cafés: this super cute and special project needed funding of € 26.728. They succeeded, and how: 2.721 backers pledged for 235% of the goal! With the money, the two-man development team Kells and Andrew plans to work non-stop on the project for 1,5 year to be able to complete it. Of course the developers were very pleased, as they showed with their funny animation on their Twitter feed.

Want to know more about the game? Here’s our article.

They reached two stretch goals, which means the game will come with character ànd animal customisation. Adjust skin, gender, hair, eyes and outfits to how you want it. Plus, you can customise dogs and cats, as well as dress any kind of animal. Added cuteness!

They failed to reached the third stretch goal of having a companion app. That would have made it possible to carry one of the pets around with you in your mobile phone. But, there’s still a long way to go for the game to fully come to life. Who knows, in the future funds might be found to add the companion app anyway. I’d love that!

Missed out on the fun: you can still join

If you missed the Kickstarter Campaign, but you would still like to jump in, there’s an alternative. The developers have teamed up with BackerKit. This will make it easier for them to handle the logistics of fulfilling their promises to backers, but there’s another benefit too: In Backerkit you can still pre-order a digital copy of the game and pay for it through PayPal. Something you can’t do on Kickstarter, as you need a credit card there.

If you are interested, you can still back the game until May 19. Find the Backerkit website for Calico here.
