Kickstarter Kicks Off for Toymaker

Uprising Games has launched the Kickstarter campaign for Toymaker: Threads of Joy, a cozy narrative game about crafting plushies in early‑20th‑century Salamanca. To mark the occasion, the studio has released a new trailer and we have already got you covered with first impressions written by Laurane.

Set in 1910, Toymaker places you in charge of a plushie shop you’ve just inherited from your mother. It’s a quiet premise with surprisingly rich roots: the story draws from the legend of The Cave of Salamanca, weaving real locations, historical figures, and cultural details into a fictional tale that feels both intimate and steeped in place. For the team, it’s personal: several members have family ties to Salamanca’s textile industry, and the game is as much a tribute to that craft as it is a cozy escape.

The Kickstarter campaign opens with a range of limited rewards and Early Bird discounts. Backers can choose from handmade plushies, DIY kits, pins, stickers, and a variety of digital treats. Some tiers even invite players directly into the creative process, offering the chance to design in‑game items alongside the developers, whether that means turning a beloved pet into a plushie or appearing as a customer in the shop.

At its core, Toymaker is about crafting with care. You’ll sew, decorate, and customise plushies at your own pace, unlocking new materials, colours, and patterns as your workshop grows. Running the shop adds a light management layer: customers commission toys, haggle over prices, and share stories that reveal hidden mysteries around the city. Treat them well and your reputation spreads; disappoint them and word travels just as quickly.

Beyond the workshop, the game invites you to explore Salamanca’s markets, squares, university, and countryside, all reimagined through a lens of folklore and mythology. As the narrative unfolds, you’ll face two distinct paths that shape the future of the town and the legacy of your family’s shop.

Those interested in supporting the project or securing the limited rewards can visit the Kickstarter campaign now. The campaign has taken off to a flying start!
