Otterly Lost is a 2026 casual adventure game developed and released by Soulworks Interactive. Soozi Q played the demo of Otterly Lost; you can read her thoughts here.

The Premise of Otterly Lost

In Otterly Lost, we play as Otto, a playful, curious sea otter who unexpectedly finds himself far from home. As we meet charming animals, discover hidden places, use unfamiliar tools, and solve light challenges, we make our way home with our favorite rock by our side.

Gameplay

Otterly Lost is a charming 3rd-person adventure where we play as an otter named Otto. Otto is a bit lost and is trying to find his way home. The game supports full controller input, but I played with mouse and keyboard, and it worked just fine.

As an otter, we can run, swim, and dive. We get to collect all kinds of goodies, such as gems, seashells, and ores. Some of the items we collect are for quests, such as salad ingredients or something to translate whale-talk to otter-talk.

We have a branch to take gems and a rock to break things down, and our inventory is limitless. We also find all types of accessories and clothes for our otter, and we can purchase more. The rock is useful for breaking down obstacles and helps us discover new tools and treasures. We also upgrade our natural abilities to swim faster, jump higher, climb easier, and glide farther.

The story and characters in Otterly Lost are charming and full of heart. The story is about wonder, friendship, family, and belonging. The map is quite big, with different biomes to explore. We have green forests and icy landscapes, hidden caves, sunny shores, and rocky canyons. As the game progresses, we also unlock new ways to traverse the landscape. The game focuses on quests and exploration, but it also includes light puzzles and some platforming.

The soundtrack is very pleasant, and I really liked the relaxing music during the underwater exploration. Overall, Otterly Lost is a very cute and cozy game. Visually, it’s very colorful and soft. It’s very cute to see the otter just floating on its back in the sea.

Some Other Things

Otterly Lost has all the usual audio and video settings. The game has Steam achievements, but no trading cards yet.

Conclusion

Otterly Lost is a delightful little adventure with a big heart. It is otterly charming, and if you are in the mood for something cozy, I urge you to try Otterly Lost.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up: Two thumbs up
