Pathfinders: Mini Words is a short and sweet puzzle word game. The basic mechanics are similar to Mini Words, another title by Mens Sana that I reviewed a little while ago, but this colorful version is designed for younger viewers or anyone trying to improve their English.
The Story and Gameplay
There isn’t much story in this word game, but it is basically about some aliens looking to learn English. These little critters display images and are looking for you to fill out the English word to teach them the local language. This cute game is definitely designed with younger audiences in mind, but its puzzles are thoughtful, interesting, and get fairly challenging for the ages intended.

Gameplay is similar to the other Mini Words games by this dev. Players are presented with a picture, and they must spell the illustrated object out with the provided letters. You have to use all of the letters provided, and you can’t crossover a path twice to complete each word.
The puzzles begin simply with single words, but then ramp up in difficulty as the game progresses. In the 100 levels in this short title, Pathfinders: Mini Words will present players with multiple words, longer words, and words that share progressively more letters inside the puzzle. This makes mapping the words out much more difficult, as the player cannot cross over the same path twice.

The Pros of Pathfinders: Mini Words
There’s a lot going for this game. Its colorful, attractive design will appeal to all ages, and the little aliens are cute and harmless looking. The entire Mini Words series all have clean, minimalist designs that make them attractive and fun to play, but this one has some extra little animations and sounds that would make it more appealing to younger viewers.

The game is inexpensive, giving parents a fun game to give to their kids to keep them entertained for a few hours for only $1 USD. And they might even improve their spelling while they are at it!
The Cons of Pathfinders: Mini Words
There’s little to dislike about Pathfinders: Mini Words. It’s cute, fun, and full of educational value. But there are a couple of things I disliked about the title. For example, as polished as the game is, there are some illustrations that aren’t entirely clear. The drawing of a melon, for example, didn’t really look like a melon to me. I stared at it for longer than I’d like to admit, trying to figure out what kind of fruit it was supposed to be.

The game is also very short. That being said, I can see it having a little bit of replayability if the kids want to race against themselves to see how much faster they can spell out the words on a second playthrough. However, it seems like a nice length for the cheap price tag.

Conclusion
Pathfinders: Mini Words is an adorable little game with a lot of educational value. It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s easy to pick up and play. There is a lot going for this cute little game, and anyone with kids should pick this one up. It’s perfect for a car ride or waiting around in a doctors’ office.
Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot.Â
