Pre-register for My Nintendo

As of today February 17, you can pre-register for your My Nintendo account. This will also be your Nintendo Account, through which everything Nintendo will be linked to your name in future. You can pre-register for an account here, where you’ll be asked whether you want to use one of the social media to register with, use your Nintendo ID or make an entirely new account. If you already have a Nintendo ID, I’d recommend using that one. It should be a pretty straightforward process, but don’t forget to verify your email address with the verification code they send you (it will only be valid for an hour!).

I have stumbled upon some unforeseen challenges myself, as I have three different region 3DS’s and three Nintendo ID’s. Now they used to be linked to the same email address, but apparently there’s a check now about email addresses being used, so they can’t all be the same. I’ll have to work on figuring that out! Remember, you can change the settings like your email address on your 3DS (or WiiU). Go to system settings, and you will see a button to go to your Nintendo ID on the top of the screen. Make sure by the way to update your system to the latest update, otherwise it won’t work.

I wonder if now its the time to use one account for all three regions? I think I’m going to give Nintendo a call about that, see if that’s possible. I bet I’ll be disappointed and I’ll end up with three My Nintendo Accounts though.Edit: just called, and I’m still going to have three separate My Nintendo Accounts.

If you’ve made your account, you can also pre-register for  Miitomo, you’ll get a special bonus once it’s released. Plus, you will get the latest news in your mailbox. The site dedicated to Miitomo is up now too, as you can see here. It would seem the connection you can make between your My Nintendo Account and social media is important for MiiTomo: you can invite friends directly into the app, or connect with your friends through social media! And the styling you see in the picture beneath is important too, as you can visit with the people you’ve added as friends!
