Upcoming Switch Games October 2023

It’s time to take a look at the upcoming new release games on our favourite handheld, the Nintendo Switch, for October 2023. Plus, we also feature Upcoming Steam games. For those of you who prefer gaming on Steam!

Not all games to be released are on the list here. Alternatively, you will see games that the other gaming sites don’t mention. We are taking notice of these games. You can expect reviews for many of them if given half a chance! It should be noted that unless we have some personal experience with the game, there’s a link to the descriptions on the Nintendo website.

Bilkins’ Folly – October 2nd

Percy’s on a quest to find his missing relatives, and he needs your help! Join him and his beloved dog, Drayton as they adventure through a series of unusual islands, solve puzzles to uncover valuable treasure, and bring to light the foreboding family secret buried beneath it all.

Paula reviewed Bilkins’ Folly and said this in her conclusion:

Ultimately, Bilkins’ Folly might be the game for you if you’re into adventure with puzzles, pirates, and dogs.

There is certainly plenty of buried treasure to be found and dug up in Bilkins’ Folly. After all, it is the main puzzle mechanic for the entire game. However, for me, Drayton is Bilkins’ Folly furry star, and yes, you can pet him as many times as you want.

Silent Hope – October 3rd

Explore, fight, and produce items to grow stronger as seven distinct heroes in this silent world. Guided by the Princess. You’ll delve into the Abyss and learn the mysteries of the King and his now-ruined kingdom. In a world without words, what hope is there for humanity?

We have reviewed Silent Hope and give it an Like it a Lot. Here’s our conclusion:

Silent Hope is a fun dungeon crawler. Furthermore, I really enjoyed the fights in the Abyss and trying out the different heroes. I would have liked the crafting to be more hands-on for the player than just menu-based crafting. I don’t think Silent Hope is a game for all players; you will have to enjoy fighting baddies, as that is basically what it’s all about. The fighting in the Abyss is fast and engrossing, especially trying out the heroes’ abilities, which I enjoyed.

A Tiny Sticker Tale – October 4th

A Tiny Sticker Tale is a cosy miniature adventure about changing the world using the power of stickers!

In A Tiny Sticker Tale, take anything from the world around you, turn it into a sticker, and use your creativity to stick it back in different places, solving puzzles and helping your new friends!

Lynne reviewed A Tiny Sticker Tale and gave it our highest score of Two Thumbs Up. We also have a guide to help you find all those stickers.

A Tiny Sticker Tale is one of the most adorable games I’ve played this year. The graphics are bold and colourful, removing and placing stickers is good fun, and the quests are satisfying.

Designed to be a short adventure, A Tiny Sticker Tale packs a lot in and definitely a game to get stuck into!

Cafe Master Story – October 4th

Have you ever wanted to run your own coffee shop?

The smell of fresh roast beans, the gurgling of the espresso machine, the sheen of a squeaky-clean counter… All this and more await you in this quirky sim game!

Just set up your tables and counter seats and wait for the customers to enter. Add handy features like magazine racks or chic furnishings to give your cafe a more welcoming atmosphere.

Coffee and tea are just the beginning—there’s a whole world of hot and cold drinks out there just waiting to be discovered!

Lynne reviewed Cafe Master Story and said this in her conclusion:

The bright colours and lovely pixelated characters of Cafe Master Story fill the screen with familiarity. Designing the best trio of drinks to recommend to customers is one of the best mini-games I’ve played in a Kairosoft game.

Cafe Master Story is not as complicated as some of the other Kairosoft games and with the on-screen help to get you started, it’s an ideal introduction to this type of management simulation game.

My little Universe – October 5th

title name on the right side of the image and the games character with an axe in his hand on the left

Stranded on a barren moon with nothing but your tools, fuelless ship, and celestial powers of creation. You are destined to recreate what was once lost and be the hero of your own Little Universe. Don’t forget to call in up to three of your friends to join your journey in the Splitscreen Co-op Mode.

Paula reviewed My Little Universe and gave it a score of Two Thumbs up.

I’ve had a blast with My Little Universe; it is a cosy worldbuilding collect-a-thon. It urges the player to explore further and discover what is on the next hex. My Little Universe is a wholesome, relaxing game for those who want the thrill of exploring and collecting infinite resources. Suitable for all ages in the family, it also has a very addictive gameplay loop and watching Orangey go to work and swing his tools is brilliant; I wish I had his energy!

Wargroove 2 – October 5th

Wargrove 2 title images shows the games name and some of the characters

Wargroove is back! Embark on an all-new adventure filled with unlikely friendships, unknown adversaries, and ugly revenge plots. Wage war against your foes with a cast of new Commanders and utilise their new tiered ‘groove’ ability system to sway the fight in your favour. Trouble stirs on the shores of Aurania. An ambitious new faction has unearthed forbidden relics capable of catastrophic consequences. But how far will they go to achieve glory? Take to the battlefield, sea, and sky with a cast of new Commanders, using your wits to wage turn-based war.

James reviewed Wargroove 2 and gave it our highest score of Two Thumbs Up.

Wargroove 2 is extraordinary value for money. For less than a third of the price of a modern AAA, you’re getting one groovy SRPG. A campaign that is suited to newcomers and experienced players. Then you have the addictive new conquest mode, putting a fresh roguelike spin on things and even the ability to create your own levels and campaigns.

All these aspects feel carefully crafted with deep and engaging gameplay that will keep you busy for a very long time. This is all wrapped up with a colourful pixel art style and epic soundtrack. I found myself hooked to the gameplay even when I failed, keen to learn and change up my strategy next time. The game may not divert much from the first in terms of its gameplay, but that’s unlikely going to be a problem for returning fans. Wargroove 2 stands as one of the titans in its genre.

Knights Vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur – October 5th

In this fantasy action roguelite, you’ll play as King Arthur and utilise the Broken Excalibur to channel the unique powers of your fallen Knights as you battle through hordes of dire foes and face off against challenging giant bosses. Explore vibrant, procedurally generated dungeons, receive blessings and customise your skills. Rescue the kingdom’s loyal citizens and call upon their unique talents to restore your seat at Castle Camelot to glory!

James reviewed Knight vs Giants: The Broken Excalibur and said this in his conclusion.

Knight vs. Giant: The Broken Excalibur is a good action roguelike worth its name. Combat is fun and satisfying, offering addictive pick-up-and-play gameplay that kept me returning run after run. I was personally very fond of the fantasy setting as a fan of the lore.

However, it doesn’t bring much to the round table compared to other games in the genre and also suffers similar issues. The game can be grindy and requires a lot of investment before you get to the good stuff, making some runs feel like obligations than time well spent. If you love the genre, it’s a quest worth taking up. But if this has never been your chalice, then you need not venture. Somehow, I’m not tired of this genre yet, and Kings Vs. Giants certainly made a video game Knight out of me.

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos – October 6th (EU)

The land of Anthos was a peaceful and harmonious land watched over by the Harvest Goddess and the Harvest Sprites, who protected the inhabitants of Anthos from natural disasters such as storms, earthquakes, and the like.

However, one day, many years ago, Anthos experienced a severe volcanic eruption that threatened life on Anthos itself, and the Harvest Goddess and Harvest Sprites had to use all of their remaining power to keep the people and animals of Anthos safe. This left the different villages across the land blocked off from each other. Some unfortunate souls even got trapped outside their villages and were unable to return…

Believing that the separated villages and people would one day be reconnected, the Harvest Goddess sent out a bottle with a letter and a magic key then fell into a deep sleep…

Now, ten years later, you have found the SOS, the Harvest Goddess, sent to the world in the form of a message in a bottle! With the help of your wacky inventor friend Doc Jr. and many others, it’ll be up to you to revive the Harvest Goddess and the Harvest Sprites, as well as reconnect all of the villages of Anthos with each other!

I reviewed this latest entry in the Harvest Moon series and gave it an I Like it a Lot, find the review here.

All the elements of a farming simulation are there, but the game doesn’t go about it in the traditional way. Basic things like finding seeds to sow and Doc Jr.’s inventions make this a farming game that is different from the others.
Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos has made a big leap since their last game, One World. And if you play past a slightly unbalanced start of the game, you will find many, many hours of enjoyable farming and exploring in an innovative way.

Shy Cats Hidden Orchestra – October 6th

The shyest of orchestras is on tour! They are cute. They are clever. They are talented. But they are shy! They hid on ice, in the jungle, in the desert… Even on other planets!

In this hidden object game, you’ll need to find musician kittens who are too shy to play their music. You’ll hear a different musical instrument sound for each cat you find. Try to find over 200 kittens and create your own music across ten beautiful, colourful levels!

I reviewed Shy Cats Hidden Orchestra and said this in my conclusion:

Are you looking for something sweet, short and innovative? Then, this little hidden object adventure is for you, offering great gameplay. Shy Cats Hidden Orchestra stands out in its genre because of the novel way music is used. Finding all the cats, but also finding which

Tired of peering at the screen? No problem, just move on to the next landscape, and no need to get frustrated by having to find them all. You might find, however, that you can’t resist taking one more good look. Do you feel the game should be longer? Well, next year, the Shy Dog Hidden Orchestra will start performing, too!

Bish Bash Bots – October 19th

Bish Bash Bots is a unique mix of casual tower defence strategy and all-out brawling action. Team up in couch co-op / online play, or go it alone to save the world.

In a cartoony take on the distant future, robots have become an integral part of everyday life. But everything changes when the bots, seemingly for no reason, malfunction and start stealing all of the world’s technology.

Amongst the chaos, a rag-tag team of unlikely heroes step up to save humanity. Armed with their respective skills, our heroes have set out on a grand adventure to reset the robots and save the world. Build upgradable turrets, unlock new gadgets and bash bots with giant hammers.

Journey across the world through vibrant and colourful biomes. Use strategy to defend against swarms of robots and save humanity!

James reviewed Bish Bash Bots and said this in his conclusion:

Bish Bash Bots is a super happy and fun tower defence game that I highly recommend if you can play with friends. For a game night game, this is excellent value for money and will keep you busy for many gaming sessions. The game has plenty to unlock and an appealing incentive to replay levels and pass every small objective. Single-player is okay, but the real fun of this experience will be enjoying it as a team as you potentially shout orders at each other and conjure up a master plan on the fly to defeat the robots. Bish Bash Bots is the happiest robot uprising I’ve come across, and it’s a pretty darn good game, too.

Kalina reviewed Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express and said this in her conclusion:

Having played the previous Hercule Poirot games, including the ancient ones, I can tell you that this one, Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express, is by far my favourite. With the weather turning cold, staying home with tea, books, and video games seems like a natural conclusion, and what better way to start the season than with Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express. I can only hope that Microids gives us a sequel.

Mail Time LadiesGamers

It’s Mail Time! As a newly trained Mail Scout, put on your pack, grab those letters, and deliver them across Grumblewood Grove! The forest animals eagerly await the sight of your mushroom hat in this cozy, cottage-core light-platformer adventure!

Lynne reviewed Mail Time and said this in her conclusion:

Mail Time is definitely one to write home about. The short adventure delivers you to the whimsical world of Grumblewood Grove, with its quirky houses and fascinating residents. The imagination in both the scenery and characters makes for a truly delightful experience.

You can find our Mail Time guide here.

Witchy Life Story – October 19th

Witchy Life Story Review

Witchy Life Story is a visual novel about a witch who has been sent by their family to help out a small town. During the course of the story, you have the option to fall in love, help out all the people in the village, and learn a little bit about yourself along the way as well.

Mina reviewed it on Steam and wrote this in her conclusion:

I wanted to love this game. It filled me with the same feeling as a big warm hug or a cozy blanket. The art is amazing, the characters are wonderful, and the character creation is top-notch. But the bugs really just kind of ruined the whole experience for me.

I will keep trying it out as new updates come out in hopes of actually being able to finish this title someday.

Varenje – Don’t Touch The Berries – October 26th

Varenje is a cute, colourful adventure with several puzzles and mini-games made by artists for anyone who considers games to be art.

Our hero spent summer happily at the cosy cottage until curiosity forced him to sample an unknown berry at the stream. Before he knew it, everything had become incredibly large, and he was reduced to the size of a bug!

Trying to understand what happened and how to return things back to normal, we set off into the invisible to the human eye tiny world, where worms, beetles and spiders live their life and build bizarre vehicles in disguise so that humans do not realize.

Our new friends will surely help us by discovering the secret healing potion, returning us to our previous dimensions. All we need is to collect enough raspberries to cook grandmother’s jam. And as we all know – this is a remedy for all ills!
