Release Window Sugardew Island

Sugardew Island – Your Cozy Farm Shop has a release window: it will bring cosy vibes to gamers in early 2025. Developed by indie team rokaplay, this farm shop sim will be launched digitally for PC via Steam, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and Nintendo Switch. Plus, a physical edition for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch will also be available, thanks to Silver Lining Interactive.

In Sugardew Island, you’ll wash ashore after a shipwreck to find the island in disarray following the desecration of its sacred Harmony Tree. It’s up to you to restore balance, run your farm shop, bond with local wildlife and mystical Forest Folk, and revive the island’s charm. When the game’s Kickstarter campaign launched in March of this year, it shattered its €30,000 goal, so the game seems to be right on track!

A wholesome farmyard scene from Sugardew Island, featuring a farmer in a straw hat affectionately petting a black-and-white cow with a heart icon above its head. Nearby, several red chickens roam beside a colorful chicken coop and wooden crates. A blue barn, haystack, and green trees frame the idyllic environment, enclosed by a white picket fence. Time Travelling in Old Skies

Adventure game Old Skies from Dave Gilbert, creator of the Blackwell mystery series, is set to launch in Spring 2025. Coming to PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch, this time-travelling tale puts you in the shoes of Fia Quinn, a time traveller, accompanying clients of the ChronoZen Time Travel Agency on jumps to other eras to make sure they don’t rewrite important aspects of history. Some of these people are merely curious. Others have unresolved business. As long as they can pay for the trip, their motivations don’t matter to Fia… until they do.

As Fia, you’ll navigate seven gripping cases across two centuries of New York City’s history. From the speakeasies of Prohibition to the Gilded Age’s dangerous gangs and even the poignant backdrop of September 10th, 2001, you’ll tackle temporal puzzles and fend off paradoxes. Whether you’re assisting curious clients or those with unresolved personal missions, you’ll ensure history stays intact—or face the consequences.

With its blend of mystery and time travel, Old Skies sounds interesting, though we don’t know an age rating yet.

In the foreground, a woman in a vintage coat and hat looks unimpressed, while a couple shares a passionate kiss behind her, accompanied by her sarcastic dialogue: "Right. Don't mind me or anything." Dadoo Winner Google Play of 2024 Awards

Innovative card battler and puzzler Dadoo: Twists, Turns, and Mischiefs has earned developer Algorocks a major accolade: the game was named Best in Indonesia at the Google Play Best of 2024 awards. That deserves a big congratulations to the small indie studio!

If you’re new to Dadoo, it combines elements of snakes and ladders, card games, and competitive puzzling into a chaotic and fun multiplayer experience. Players use unique ability cards tied to their chosen mascot character to outwit opponents—whether by sabotaging their progress or boosting their own. The game is out now on Steam and mobile devices.

More Details About Atelier Yumia

Fans of the Atelier series, like me, have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming release of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. It’s coming on March 21st, 2025, to Switch, Playstation 4 & 5, and Steam, and for the first time, to Xbox (X|S and One) as well!

The game follows Yumia Liessfeldt and her companions as they journey across the ruined continent of Aladiss, a land where alchemy is shrouded in taboo. Along the way, players will encounter mysterious foes, including the enigmatic Noble in a Black Cloak and the Dragon-Winged Warrior.

As is customary with each new Atelier trilogy, we will get an updated synthesizing system featuring “Resonance Synthesis,” where combining ingredients that resonate with each other enhances item creation. Combat also gets a fresh twist, with real-time battles that allow for dynamic movement, character switching, and powerful “Friend Action” combos. Players can also unleash special moves like the “Maximize Mana Surge” for devastating effects.

Exploration of the vast open world includes exciting new features like base building, allowing players to customize their atelier with walls, furniture, and more. Campsites offer opportunities for cooking and character events while on the go, adding depth to the game’s storytelling. I’m looking forward to see what they made of these new bits.

Release Cuisineer on Switch, PS5 and Xbox X|S

Cuisineer, the delightful rogue-lite-dungeon crawler with a restaurant sim twist, is set to release on January 28, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by BattleBrew Productions and published by Marvelous Europe and XSEED Games, the game brings its signature mix of action-packed exploration and culinary creativity to consoles, enhanced with new features. The game is already available on Steam, where Paula reviewed it; she liked it a lot, saying in conclusion:

When I started playing Cuisineer for this review, it took a while for the game to grow on me. I was going to score it lower, but after spending more time with the game, I have revised my score. Looking after the restaurant is fantastic, addictive, and enjoyable. The fighting in the dungeons is frantic, but I like that I can choose when to go dungeon crawling.

Console players can look forward to fresh additions, including a wardrobe feature, seasonal festivals, and new weapons and boosts to heat up gameplay. Priced at €29.99, Cuisineer is available for pre-purchase on the Nintendo eShop and Xbox digital stores, with physical editions also open for pre-order in Europe and Australia via participating retailers. Spanish studio Valhalla Cats has announced the release date for its next game, Stars in the Trash! The game will launch on December 9th on Steam, priced at $11.99 with a 10% launch discount. A Nintendo Switch version is also in the works, though its release date is still to be determined.

Mina checked out the demo before and loved what she saw, saying:

This game is wonderful. I love the sound design, the music, the characters, and the animation! From the blurb, this game sounds super cute story-wise too! The demo really gives a great idea of what playing the game will be without spoiling any of the tales. I’m really looking forward to what this game will turn out to be.

Stars in the Trash promises a nostalgic journey inspired by childhood cartoons and offers a brief but sweet experience with an estimated playtime of around 2.5 hours.

Stars in the Trash features a hand-drawn scene of a scruffy dog and a curious cat in a cluttered urban alleyway. The area is filled with trash bags, discarded mattresses, and various debris, creating a gritty yet endearing atmosphere. The dog and cat interact amidst the colorful but worn environment. Overall, Snufkin Melody of Moominvalley offers a delightful and immersive journey tailor-made for fans of Moomin and anyone in search of a distinct gaming adventure. Although I did encounter a bug that halted my progress, it doesn’t overshadow the charm and creativity that Hyper Games has infused into this delightful exploration of Snufkin Melody of Moominvalley.

Demo for Spray Paint Simulator

The demo for Spray Paint Simulator is now available on Steam! James already checked it out, and wrote this in his conclusion:

Spray Paint Simulator is shaping up to be another enjoyable entry in the “real-world job turned video game” genre. For fans of simulator games that provide a low-pressure, busybody experience, this title is worth keeping an eye on. Although the demo shows potential, it’s essential for the full game to introduce more unique mechanics to stand out from similar titles. That said, the concept of painting as a form of relaxation already sets it apart enough to attract a specific audience. Only time will tell whether or not it evolves beyond the basic formula.
