2025 was a great year for indie titles, and I was honored enough to be able to play a bunch of great ones this year.
Best Games of 2025: Mina’s Choice
Over the last twelve months, I have gotten everything from puzzles to arcade games and everything in between. Here is a rundown of my favorite cozy games over this time.
Gloomy Eyes

Available For: PC, PlayStation5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox
Gloomy Eyes is a game that feels like a Tim Burton movie. It’s horror with some creepy elements, but is still kid-friendly. This little horror title tells a beautiful tale of two children who are looking to find the sun again after it has gone missing for a long time.
Henry Halfhead

Available For: PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch
Henry Halfhead is an adorable, highly polished game about a man named Henry Halfhead’s life. Use your powers to become different objects in order to sneak out of your crib, make trouble at school, and even get a promotion at work. This adorable game is as cozy as they come.
Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping

Available For: PC, macOS, Linux, mobile, Xbox, Nintendo Switch
In this second instalment in the Duck Detective series, you play once again as a down-on-his-luck, divorced detective who needs to “quack” the case. To get to the bottom of it, you will need to chat with a bunch of strange creatures, infiltrate a haunted house, and use your “de-duck-tive” skills to put the pieces together and put the animals responsible in jail.
YOUR HOUSE

Available For: macOS, PC, mobile
YOUR HOUSE is a puzzle game with a creepy atmosphere. You play as a young woman who has finally turned 18, and she gets a mysterious package. Inside is a key and a note, and you need to figure out what it all means. The puzzles are challenging and wonderful, and the story is told with beautiful, comic book-style graphics.
Blue Prince

Available For: PlayStation5, PC, macOS, Xbox
The amazing depth of Blue Prince makes it my favorite game of 2025. With nothing but the pack on your back, you have a limited number of days to figure out all the secrets of your grandfather’s home and find the secret room in order to inherit it. And the ending is just the beginning…
R.E.P.O.

Available For: PC
While still in Early Access, R.E.P.O. brings a whole lot to the table. It’s designed to be played online with a bunch of friends, and it is a little spooky and extremely goofy. I love playing with my buddies, trying to carry very breakable objects to a central location.
Umamusume: Pretty Derby

Available For: PC, mobile
Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a gacha game where you play as a trainer, helping horse girls called Umamusume to win races and achieve their dreams. It’s pretty silly, has adorable characters, unlockable outfits, and each girl is based on a real racing horse.
Aloft

Available For: PC
Aloft is a building, survival, and exploration game all squished into one beautiful package. This game is still in Early Access, but the bones of what is available already is fantastic. It’s a lot of fun, has a lot to do, and looks absolutely gorgeous to boot.
