Express Car Wash Simulator: Prologue gives us a sneak peek into a new simulation title where you get to wash cars for money. You’ll need to maintain your business, wash all the cars by hand, hose them down, then get the customer on their way.
Sims, Sims, and More Sims
This seems to be the decade of the simulation games; there seems to be a sim for everything now, from potion shop simulators to house renovation simulators. This is probably one of my favorite genre of games right now. It’s always casual, fun, and silly. So, of course, I was hoping for a fun and silly time with Express Car Wash Simulator: Prologue.

The basic setup of the game goes like this: you have a carwash, and you purchase soap. Then you open up your carwash and let a customer in. They give you the key and you drive their car into the washing port, soap it up, rinse it, then give it back. With the money you get, you can upgrade your sponge, your hose, give you customers things to amuse them while they wait, and more.
There are also suspicious customers that will sometimes leave without paying after you clean their car. You have to decide if you want to make them show money before giving their key or if you want to trust them. Either way, it will effect how your car wash is perceived, so that aspect was kind of annoying.
How Express Car Wash Simulator: Prologue Feels To Play
When you first start out, you get very little money and have to do a lot of work to get a car clean. In order to get to the necessary percentage of clean and rinsed, you will need to spend so much time that every customer will be furious by the time you give their car back, and you will get just enough money to cover more soap and a little bit for savings.

The actual act of cleaning is pretty fun, but the lack of funds make for a really frustrating cycle of play that makes purchasing anything feel like a massive life choice. Do I pick saving up for something to keep my customers from getting mad, or do I pick a cleaning upgrade to speed up cleaning? The first time I played Express Car Wash Simulator: Prologue, I chose a sponge upgrade to clean faster. However, the sponge upgrade didn’t speed up my cleaning fast enough to make a difference with customers, so it didn’t add to my earnings in any way.
The Look and Feel of My Car Wash
Express Car Wash Simulator: Prologue looks pretty good, and it sounds pretty good too. The graphics and sound design were fine, and the gameplay is also fun. It had a few grammatical errors here and there, but it wasn’t enough to distract from the game itself. There is also a ton of stuff that isn’t unlocked in the demo that looks like it will be a lot of fun. If the gameplay loop is improved somewhat, either by starting you with more money or making customer frustration go up slower, I think Express Car Wash Simulator will be a really good game when it drops.

I feel like there will be all sorts of interesting things and ways to deal with bad customers when the full release of Express Car Wash Simulator becomes available.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this was a fun game with some fun elements that just needs to be sped up a little to be perfect. I had a lot of fun with this demo, and I hope to be able to review the full game whenever it releases.
