Hello to everyone! Thank you for joining us, on our cuppa filled gaming journey.
Last week, we listened to a few tracks from the South Korean, fantasy MMO RPG: Mabinogi. If you missed it and want to check it out: Game Soundtracks We Love: Mabinogi
For December, a little game of sorts involving the tracks; at least one track each week will be linked in some way with one another – wonder if anyone will figure out the link before Christmas! 😛
Game of Choice
To start off this month, we have chosen an iconic sci-fi Gamecube game: Metroid Prime.
Metroid Prime was a first person, sci-fi adventure game that had the player control the bounty hunter Samus Aran.
After landing on the planet Tallon IV, Samus discovers information about the civilization that once inhabited the planet; quickly learning that a poisonous substance called Phazon landed on the planet when a meteor struck many decades before. Now however, Space Pirates are using the Phazon for their own fiendish plans, and so Samus goes in search of 12 artifacts to gain entry into the crater of the planet; where the source of the Phazon resides, and a terrible creature awaits…

Final Thoughts
I’m not really one for space sci-fi themed games, films, etc, but for some reason; I found myself being drawn to exploring the world in Metroid Prime. It certainly made me rethink my view on space sci-fi settings in games.
A big part of what made Metroid Prime so memorable was the music. The soundtrack was brilliant, with varying elements that made each area have their own distinctive feeling and atmosphere – making the game more immersive, and not just alien and mysterious, but mystical too – I love it! 😀
Several tracks I find inspirational; Phendrana Drifts being one. I tend to listen to it when I want to relax/drift off into my own world. 😀
A few questions for you:
- What were your thoughts on the tracks chosen?
- Do you feel uneasy when hearing Metroid Prime’s main theme?
- Or are there any game tracks that help you relax?
Would love to read your thoughts 😀 – Thanks for reading!
