A couple of weeks ago I was exited to find that one of the games I’d played in 2009 and had loved, had gotten not only one but three sequels in Japan. So, I whipped out my Japanese XL and downloaded the game pronto.
I’ve been playing it for two weeks now, so I guess I owe you a review for Tongari Boushi to Mahou no Machi とんがりボウシと魔法の町.
First let me say, it’s been fun remembering the old game, and fun to figure out how things work in the new game. They don’t seem to work very different, you care for the town, planting flowers, catch bugs and fish. Interact with villagers, and if this sounds a lot like animal crossing, added to that you have to go to Magic School to learn spells. Spells to find treasure, to play tricks on your friends or make it rain. The Enchanted Bros. wiki of the first game has been a lot of help with all of that. But on top of that they have added an entire shopping mall to the game where you can run your own shops and make your own products!
So I had to find out how the shop management worked. I can tell you, it takes work. Not only work baking various cakes and bakes, but translating on the go. I had forgotten how text heavy this game was. Sure, I can do the basic things, but I’ve had villagers talking to me for several minutes, and no clue as to what they are saying. Makes me feel uncomfortable, I’m surely missing things. But there’s no help for it, I can’t translate every line of text, it’s slow going as it is right now. I have a google spreadsheet going to keep track of my translations, and I’m managing to learn a couple of words in the process. (If you want to give the game a try too, message me and I’ll be happy to share my spreadsheet!)
The shop is doing well, the mall is a great addition. Im sure the game will keep me hooked for some time to come. I’ve only scratched the surface, trying to find more info in YouTube clips if I’m stuck. But so far, I don’t regret buying the game at all! The game has moved on from its original, keeping some things as they are, and bettering and adding other stuff. It’s a game AC and I think Harvest Moon fans would love, if only Konami would realize that they have a good game that really needs localization!
Hey, I am playing the Japanese version of the game too! I would very much love it if you could share your spreadsheet with me.
Wow, that’s great news! Especially since I’m kinda stuck figuring out how wifi works. Let’s share the game, it’ll be fun. Send me your email address!
My email is le****************@***oo.com.
I’m going to be getting the game, and I would like it if you could share the spreadsheet with me also. My email ra******@***il.com
Just sent it to you. Have fun!
Ow wow, now I know this exists I want to play it so bad! I hope they localize it although I am sceptical about that happening. But who knows, sometimes it takes 2 years before a game get’s localized. (fantasy life)
True, Elise! They might yet realize that Animal Crossing New Leaf has paved the way for them and that they might have a success on their hands over here too without realizing it! Fingers crossed!
You and me both, we shall both keep our fingers crossed! You are absolutely right, sometimes it just takes them a bit longer!
Sounds so cute! I would love to play this if it were localized in North America.
You and me both, it would surely be much easier! I’m surely missing a lot, but it’s still fun this way when I don’t have any other way playing it!
Oh, hi! I’m playing the Japanese version now and I would be grateful if you could share your spreadsheet with me! ( Sorry for my bad English, but I speak Spanish D: ) ( Hablando en español, espero Konami pronto pueda lanzar su versión occidental. ¡Estaría tan agradecida! ) Thank you so much! My mail is gi**********@***il.com ( Yeah, I love Harvest Moon <3 )

I’m still very much interested in trying this game as I’ve recently discovered it while trying to find games like ACNL. I don’t know a pinch of Jap so I’m pretty sure this will be hard. Let me know if it’d be worth it to play. I was also interested in trying the 3ds Tamagotchi games but not sure which or what they’re like. If anyone has any responses for me please contact me at Tumblr, if you don’t have an account message anonymously then. (Lndirectly.tumblr.com)
Still sending this spreadsheet to people? I would love to give it a try.
Hey!! I finally got my hands on the game and I just started playing- I’d love if you could share the sheet with me too if you still have it around lol! my email is co************@***il.com!
I’ll send you the email, Ezra. And I’d love to hear your thoughts on the game!
Hello!
I wanna play the game but I know zero Japanese.
I’d be so grateful if you could send me your spreadsheet!

I got your email, but I didn’t get the pdf or a link to it… 🙁
My email is Ri***@**ve.com by the way. 🙂
lol I didn’t even know that the game existed on 3ds!
Hi! Just got the game after finding out they made a sequel (Ahhhhh) Just wanted to ask if I could also get a spreadsheet as I know zero Japanese huhu
@mi***************@***il.com is my email :((
Hello!
I got the game a while back, thinking “This will be good practice” but gosh is it text heavy as you said. While I do live in Japan and speak the language on a good enough level to get by, reading is really not my strong point, haha. I would love your spreadsheet as well if that’s alright! If I ever sit down and work with translating it like you, I’d gladly help fill up your spreadsheet too.
My e-mail is yu******@***il.com
Hi, I’m new to your site. I’m a fan of this game and since I’m about to start playing it too I would like this document you made. My email is lu*********@*****ok.it
Hi Luz, nice to see you here. I never understood why Konami didn’t pick up the series to publish it further in the west, aside from the first one! I’ll check for the document later and send it to you.
Happy gaming!
