With hundreds of games on sale, it can be difficult to know where to start looking! Not all the games listed here are on sale in all regions, so check your local eShop. Also, make sure you check the end date of the discount, as it varies per game.
May 2025 eShop Sales
For the May 2025 eShop Sales, we’ve focused on games which have demos, so you can try before you buy – just go to your local eShop and select ‘download demo’. All the games mentioned scored either the LadiesGamers’ highest rating of ‘Two Thumbs Up’ or our ‘Like It a Lot’.
Alekon

Photograph dozens of whimsical creatures, using magical tools to get them to strike collectable poses!
Yvonne got snapping in Alekon
Alekon was a surprising game for me. I didn’t know what the game would be like playing a photography game, as it’s my first one. Exploring Alekon is lovely. I enjoyed finding new Fictions, or new poses for Fictions I already had in Dream’s Doorstep. The mini-games are imaginative and fun if you are into them.
The quests often made me smile. For example, who thinks of a quest for you to translate an application to join Captain’s crew in pirate speak? Alekon is a fresh uptake on a photography game, with great text writing and lots of humour.

Arise: A Simple Story – Definitive Edition

YOUR ADVENTURE OF LOVE AND LOSS
Paula puzzled her way through the emotional story of Arise: A Simple Story
Arise: A Simple Story – Definitive Edition is a bittersweet tale of an old man’s life and the memories he shared with a partner. It relays a tale of love, heartbreak, hardship, and an emotional journey through his life. It’s a story that stayed on my mind well after the closing credits. The platforming sections may prove fiddly; however, the storyline, narrative and visuals make up for the platforming shortcomings.

Cattle Country

Howdy partner! Welcome to Cattle Country, the Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim.
I went riding into the newly released Cattle Country
Cattle Country is a rootin’-tootin’ addition to the farming/life sim genre. There are a few issues which need taming, especially around the loading times on the Nintendo Switch.
However, there is so much to do in Cattle Country! Engaging festivals and mini-games, intriguing character stories and one of the best mining experiences I’ve encountered.

Dragon Quest Treasures

A Boundless Adventure in a Treasure-Hunter’s Paradise
Paula struck gold when she reviewed Dragon Quest Treasures, and also made a guide to help you:
The world of Draconia’s floating islands is a beautiful setting for an open-ended adventure. An adventure where hunting for treasure and monsters can become equally addictive.
Dragon Quest Treasures is an absolute delight to play, where you can take your time and discover all corners of Draconia without pressure. There is an amazing amount of quests to complete, accompanied by a recognisable cast of lovable characters. Hunting for shiny, sparking treasure is such fun and full of surprises.
Dragon Quest Treasures Digital Deluxe Edition is also on sale, which includes the DLC at half price.

DREDGE

A single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent.
James braved the eerie waters in DREDGE
My favourite aspect of DREDGE is this is just a great game to chill to. After a long hard day at my real-life job, taking on the life of a fisherman proved to be quite cathartic. I had just as much fun spending sessions fishing, turning in my catches, and gradually upgrading my ship, as opposed to making progress in the game’s narrative.
I didn’t feel rushed and was happy to take in the experience wherever my mood took me. Of course, it’s only fair this design won’t appeal to every gamer. Some might find the pacing slow or the gameplay repetitive. For me, the tackle reeled me in and never let go. DREDGE is the most fun I have had in a fishing game to date, and it gets my highest recommendation.
There are various editions and DLCs, but not all of them are on sale.

Neon Abyss

Neon Abyss is a frantic, roguelike action-platformer where you run ‘n’ gun your way into the Abyss as part of the Hades formed ‘Grim Squad’.
James got into the groove with Neon Abyss
Neon Abyss has got the right roguelite moves, while it feels like a bit of a grind to unlock new things in the game. Those that decide to stick with it will be rewarded with a fun and addictive shooter that will have you returning run after run. Grab your glow sticks, get your best 90s outfit, and prepare to dance. Once you’ve worn yourself out though, you can still play another few rounds of Neon Abyss.

Please, Touch the Artwork

Have you ever thought “…but anyone could have painted this!” while looking at famous abstract art?
Get to grips with the art in Please, Touch the Artwork
Please, Touch the Artwork has its limitations, which probably will be received differently by players, but the audience of these types of games will surely find enjoyment in this one in particular. With intuitive and creative mechanics, beautiful jazzy atmospheric music and engaging narrative, this game offers you a delightful experience that few puzzlers do.

Although Please, Touch the Artwork 2 is on sale, there is no demo in the eShop. However, the game is free to play on Steam, Apple Appstore and Google Play in honour of the 75th anniversary of Ensor’s death.
Promenade

Go on an adventure in a world packed with secrets with a helpful poulp. Explore dungeons, solve puzzles and blast through races in this 2D platformer!
James went collecting in Promenade
Promenade successfully recaptures that additive collectable gameplay in 2D form. Once I started collecting, I just found I couldn’t stop. The game may borrow ideas from other platformers. I feel it certainly adds enough personality to stand on its own. This is thanks to varied level design and its charming graphical design. Promenade falls a little short in some areas.
Controls can be unforgiving in some of the tougher platform segments, and some of the ideas introduced in the game, like stealth, don’t always click. But despite these flaws, I found myself eager to explore the levels, finding as many cogs as I could. I highly recommend Promenade to any platforming fan or those looking for a positive gaming experience.

Sea of Stars

Embark on a journey of peril and wonder as a Solstice Warrior in this turn-based RPG inspired by the classics
Sea of Stars featured in both Paula and Mina’s Best Games of 2023.
Sea of Stars constantly finds ways to keep the story and characters interesting and surprise you with creative and fun plot twists. With over thirty hours of enjoyable gameplay, Sea of Stars might be just what you are looking for if you are a fan of RPGs. It’s definitely a Two Thumbs Up score from me for this gem of a game!
