Super Bunny Man: The Best Game Featuring a Dude in a Bunny Costume
Super Bunny Man is a chaotic physics-based platformer where you, as a dude in a bunny suit, tumble through wormholes and question all your life choices. It’s one of those awkwardly controlled games designed to teeter on the fine line between hilarity and sheer frustration. Some players will appreciate the absurdity and embrace the madness, while others will find it unbearable. However, its inclusion of co-op and competitive modes (both local and online!) makes it a prime candidate for game night antics.
Awkward Controls: Hopping, Flopping, and Failing
Let’s talk about the elephant, or rather, the bunny, in the room: the controls. They’re deliberately awkward, and honestly, that’s part of the fun (or torment, depending on your patience). Our floppy-eared hero, whom I assume is named Bunny Man, adopts a bizarre pose: legs bent, arms outstretched, looking like he’s stuck mid-yoga session.
Movement boils down to rolling forward or backward, jumping (or at least attempting to), and grabbing objects or your co-op partner using a shoulder button. The catch? None of this works as smoothly as you’d hope. Jumping requires precise timing to launch yourself forward, and more often than not, you’ll launch yourself backwards instead. It’s hilariously bad on purpose, but in solo play, the novelty can quickly sour into frustration as you repeatedly die and wonder why you’re still trying.
Co-op mode, however, is where the game shines. Failing together somehow feels less maddening and more amusing. The absurdity of two bunny men flailing around, trying to cross a simple pit, can lead to genuine laugh-out-loud moments, especially when you grab onto each other and create an accidental bunny bridge of chaos.
Story Mode: Where’s the Plot?
Despite being called a “story mode,” there’s no actual plot here. You’re just a pink bunny man hopping through short levels in five themed worlds (forest, ice, caves, etc.). Your goal? Reach the exit. Along the way, you can aim for three medals: one for surviving the level, one for finding a hidden carrot, and one for beating a challenging time limit.
Here’s the kicker: you need a certain number of medals to unlock new levels. While replaying levels to collect carrots or beat time limits adds variety, it can also feel repetitive and tedious. Surviving a level in this game feels like an achievement in itself; why make me do it twice? That said, story mode is far more enjoyable with a co-op partner. Struggling through the chaos with a friend (or frenemies) is half the fun, especially when teamwork accidentally creates more problems than it solves.
Competitive Mode: Let the Bunny Battles Begin
For those who prefer to compete rather than cooperate, Super Bunny Man includes three competitive modes:
- Deathmatch: Push your opponents off the map and try not to fall off yourself.
- Basketball: Flop around trying to score goals. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds.
- Carrot Grab: Zoom around in jetpacks (yes, jetpacks) collecting carrots. Just don’t crash too hard, or your bunny will die in a hilariously floppy heap.
Competitive mode is chaotic, silly, and surprisingly fun, especially with a group of friends. The jetpack chaos in Carrot Grab mode is the highlight, as bunnies zip around with no regard for safety.
Silly by Design
Visually, Super Bunny Man is as goofy as it sounds. The bunny costumes are funny, but the levels themselves, while varied, are nothing groundbreaking. You’ve got your standard forest, ice, cave, and beach settings, all with some unique obstacles to keep things interesting. The soundtrack, while decent, won’t leave a lasting impression. This game is all about the physics-driven hilarity, not the aesthetics.
Conclusion: Hop To It (with Caution)
Super Bunny Man is like a novelty gift: you’ll get some laughs and enjoyment out of it, but it’s probably not something you’ll revisit often. Solo play can be frustrating, but the co-op and competitive modes offer plenty of opportunities for chaotic fun with friends or family.
While the awkward controls may drive some players hopping mad, the game’s silly charm and potential for laugh-out-loud moments make it worth a try, especially if you’ve got someone to share the chaos with.
Final Verdict: I Like It
