I couldn’t resist the tongue-twisting title of Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip! In this quirky game, you help Tiny Terry achieve his dream of getting to space in a turbo-charged taxi.
Will Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip be a top-notch tale of triumph or a terrible tangle of tyres?
Tiny Terry needs Turbo Transport

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip starts with Tiny Terry chatting to Grony. They are sitting in a job application centre as they both want jobs. Well, strictly speaking, Tiny Terry only wants a car, the job isn’t important – because Tiny Terry has a dream…. a dream of getting to space… in the car.
On-screen instructions appear, explaining the controls as you need them. You must practise them to clear the prompt.

One of the first prompts is to access the map. When you do so, you’ll realise that there is a list of things to do, which gives some direction to Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip.

Once Tiny Terry acquires his car, he can travel around the wonderfully weird city of Sprankelwater, meeting and helping his fellow residents. Controlling Tiny Terry’s car is an art, as it quickly veers off course as the camera moves. This is part of the charm of Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip, it’s meant to be silly, but at times driving the car is frustrating.
Time to Put the Turbo in Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip

One of the first tasks is to visit Tiny Terry’s employer, Zmirapfy, at their garage. Here, Terry will learn about TURBO JUNK, crucial items needed to upgrade his car. TURBO JUNK can be found all over Sprankelwater: lying on the ground, on top of buildings, and even buried between the flowers.
TURBO JUNK will give Terry’s car a boost, and to complete Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip, he’ll need a lot of boosts!

Helping his fellow residents will be rewarded, in most cases, with TURBO JUNK. However, Tiny Terry will need money to buy additional tools. Luckily for Tiny Terry, there are no laws in Sprankelwater. So bashing bins, stealing cars, or ‘relieving’ residents of their enormous money filled backpacks by hitting them, is perfectly fine, as is digging around in the ground.

As well as helping Steelkees, you can chat with Burning Bernie, have bumper car battles with Ricky, help find the gummy pup blueprints, impress the soccer kids, and so much more. Playing soccer was really tricky, and consequently not that enjoyable. Under my control, Terry started well, with 2 goals in 10 seconds, but that was his career highlight and after ,he really should have been permanently substituted.
Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip Junk Hunt

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is a short game, and depending on how much of a speed runner or completist you are, it’s between 2 to 8 hours. The quicker Terry collects enough TURBO JUNK, the quicker Terry can try to get to space. There is no day or night cycle, so Terry can wander as much as he likes, looking high and low for TURBO JUNK. Annoyingly, Tiny Terry came across a few locations where his TURBO JUNK seeking hat would bleep rapidly, indicating that TURBO JUNK was close, but try as we might, neither Terry nor I could work out how to get to it.
The narrative is as quirky and silly as the characters, and I often found myself laughing along with the story. It’s a game that doesn’t take itself seriously and requires the player to go with that flow. Younger players might miss the satire and humour of some of the conversations, that said, I didn’t encounter any inappropriate language.
Gameplay
The controls are straightforward and introduced via an on-screen show and practice. There are additional options to alter the camera inversion and field of view. The soundtrack is in keeping with the game, and changes when completing different activities or in different locations.

For the majority of the time, the camera is OK, but occasionally you get far too close to Terry!
There were a couple of pre-release warnings about using ‘load’ rather than ‘continue’ and invisible TURBO JUNK, neither of which caused any problems. Unfortunately, though, the game crashed when I was talking to the Mushroom God, and consequently, I lost that task. All the issues are meant to be resolved before launch.
Saving is automatic, and I never lost any progress when I returned to the title screen prior to exiting.
Conclusion
Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is a treasure of a game. It can be a little bit frustrating at times, but overall, it’s funny, quirky and delightfully silly.
Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot
