Treeplanter Launches With a Real Tree Planted for Every Copy Sold

Indie developer and sixth‑generation farmer Henry Driver will release his interactive woodland toybox Treeplanter on PC/Mac via Steam on April 17, published by Future Friends Games (publisher of SUMMERHOUSE, Tiny Aquarium and Gourdlets). The launch coincides with Steam’s Earth Appreciation Festival.

Build a Living, Seasonal Woodland

Treeplanter lets you assemble a small grove piece by piece, watching roots spread underground as animals, plants and birds move in to form a dynamic ecosystem. The world shifts with the seasons, blending calm creativity with gentle ecological learning.

Driver, known for Secrets of the Soil, partners with schools, farms and charities to plant trees, wildflowers and meadows. He planted 900 trees during development last year, with a goal of 8,000 trees and millions of wildflowers in 2026.

Key Features

  • A soothing toybox for fans of Summerhouse and Tiny Glade
  • LEGO‑like woodland building
  • Procedural wildlife
  • Seasonal changes
  • Learn about nature above and below ground

From Student Prototype to National Showcases

Originally created through an EU Social Fund project with students aged 18–21, Treeplanter has since toured climate and horticulture events and been playtested by players aged 5 to 85. An educational licence for schools and libraries is planned.
