Autumn’s here: lots of early evenings, no need to work in the garden or sit outside till late. Nope, time to unashamedly spend evenings gaming! We have had a lot of great September releases. If you need a reminder, then check out last months’ list.

You will perhaps notice that not all games to be released are on here. Alternatively you will see games that the big gaming sites don’t mention. These are the games that we are taking notice of, and if given half a chance, you can expect reviews for most of them!

  • Mable & The Wood (October 10)

  • In Mable and the Wood, players control a resurrected girl, who according to prophecy, is set-apart to save a dying world. According to the Steam page for the game, it’s a  Metroidvania style game where you hunt down massive beasts and, upon destroying them, shapeshift into their forms in order to use their powers to save or destroy the world. Players with less violent intent can find secret paths to complete Mable without killing anything, including bosses. Now that last bit sounds intriguing to me!
  • Doraemon Story of Seasons (October 11)

The first Story of Seasons game to appear on the Switch! Now we all know and love the Story of Seasons games, and a crossover with Doraemon should prove interesting. When I read the game is being developed by Studio Brownies (together with Marvelous) I was instantly in. You see, Studio Brownies also made Egglia: the Legend of the Redcap for mobile a couple of years ago. Lovely art style. Let’s see what they have made of this farming sim. Read a bit more about the background here.
Plus, we made some cool guides that you can find here.

  • Little Town Hero (October 16)

This is GameFreak’s (best known for Pokémon) latest IP. The townsfolk obey the rule of never leaving town, however monsters start to attack. It appears to use a unique rpg combat system, and you can move around the map to gain advantages in combat. Little Town Hero features music by Undertale creator Toby Fox. Find our review here.

  • Stranded Sails (October 17)

Just the kind of sim game we love: ship-wrecked on a mysterious archipelago where your adventure spans a vast open-world full of adventure and discovery.  Your goal is to “Fuse elements such as farming, crafting, cooking, and exploration… to build a ship and escape the island with the rest of your crew.”

  • Megaquarium (October 18)

In Megaquarium you are not only building a single aquarium, but you are essentially managing a full public place for visitors to come by and learn more about the fish you showcase. • Atelier Ryza (October 29 US, November 1 EU)

As always in most every Atelier game, it is the story of a girl and her friends who are about to become adults, discovering what is most important to them. And what I like most is that Atelier games make a good combination of RPG, crafting and storytelling. A review for the game will be posted on the site.
