Demo for Woodo
Woodo looks so amazing, and I’ve been following its progress since I first saw the game on Gamescom 2024.
Woodo feels like a 3D coloring book you can touch, a relaxing tale told through handcrafted wooden dioramas. No pressure, just a cozy world that remembers what it felt like to be a child.
Pretty soon you’ll get a first taste of the gameplay, as the demo is available on Steam.

Moomintroll Gets Its Own Video Game Adventure
Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth is an upcoming puzzle adventure from the creators of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, inspired by Tove Jansson’s classic stories. You’ll follow Moomintroll after he wakes early from hibernation to find Moominvalley changed—frozen over and deserted. The game focuses on quiet exploration, helping others, and discovering new friendships during a cold winter journey.
You’ll get a third-person, top-down view of the landscape, with environmental puzzles set in a gentle, story-driven setting. The visuals will be based on Moominland Midwinter and gameplay will be calm and reflective, not fast-paced.
The game will launch on PC via Steam. A release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, and is set for 2026 for now.

Free Game – Kimchi: A Stars in the Trash Story
If you’re a cat lover with a soft spot for charming games, Kimchi: A Stars in the Trash Story might just pounce straight into your heart. Released as a free treat for International Cat Day (August 7th), this bite-sized puzzle-platformer lets you explore a magical Cat History Museum as Kimchi, a curious little kitten with a nose for adventure.
It looks like a whimsical journey through time, from ancient Egypt’s sandy paws to the quiet elegance of feudal Japan. Whether you’re gaming solo or just need a dose of whisker-filled joy, this short catventure is a delightful way to celebrate the day.
You can play Kimchi: A Stars in the Trash Story for free now on Steam and itch.io. And if you like this treat, then don’t forget to check out the main game, Stars in the Trash!

Wordle x Balatro: Word Bird Game Birdigo
You’ll want to check out Birdigo if you enjoy clever wordplay with a touch of strategy. It looks like a sweet deckbuilding word game, blending the logic of Wordle and the quirks of Balatro, wrapped up in a roguelike challenge. The goal? Build words from your deck to help a flock of migrating birds travel the globe.
Each word you form powers your journey — longer words send your birds further, but smart combos might surprise you. Between enchanted letters and rule-breaking feathers, there’s room to get creative. It looks like there’ll be a steady increase in difficulty, so each game is a new puzzle to solve.
Created by screenwriter John August (Corpse Bride) and game designer Corey Martin (Bonfire Peaks), Birdigo is out now on Steam.

Miniature Garden Dioramas in Dream Garden
If you’re after a quiet, creative escape, Dream Garden might be worth a look. It’s a simulation game where you build miniature garden dioramas — anything from a Japanese Zen retreat to a pond filled with lily pads. You’ll have full control over the layout, with tools to shape the terrain, place decorations, and customise the atmosphere.
It looks like you’ll be able to raise hills, dig rivers, and paint the landscape with sand, grass or pebbles. You can arrange items one by one or use a brush tool to scatter them across the scene. There’s no pressure or timers — just a slow, meditative process backed by chill, handcrafted music.
Developed by Campfire Studio, the team behind My Dream Setup, Dream Garden is planned for release on PC via Steam sometime in 2025.

Join Capy and Corvi in Capy Castaway
Set off on a quirky journey in Capy Castaway, where you’ll step into the curious paws of a capybara pup and the wings of their chatty crow mate, Corvi. It looks like a colourful game packed with playful mechanics and a gentle sense of humour—you’ll dig, sniff, fly, and occasionally wear treasures as hats (yes, really).
You’ll explore a mysterious island after a dramatic flood strands several zoo animals. What unfolds is a narrative adventure that nudges you to poke and prod the world around you. Shake trees, ditch toys, and see how your choices ripple through the story.
The gameplay shines in its teamwork. Capy’s strength and nose complement Corvi’s flight and knack for grabbing goodies. Every animal has a tale to tell, and your interactions shape how those stories unfold.
If you love heartfelt stories, light puzzles, and games that reward curiosity, this one’s worth keeping an eye on. There is a demo available for Capy Castaway on Steam!

Open World Adventure in Hela
Witchy charm and folklore magic await in Hela, a heartwarming open-world adventure announced during Nintendo Direct. Hela tells the enchanting story of a kind Witch and her familiars, agile mice with magical abilities. For ages, the friendly witch has used her magic to help the local folk, but now she has fallen ill and needs help herself. It’s up to the players to set out on a quest to heal the Witch.
It looks like a visually rich third-person game with a cosy atmosphere, blending exploration, puzzle-solving, brewing, and bursts of action. Hela also brings the signature emotional depth you’d expect from the creators of the Unravel series.
Hela is set to launch in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation®5, and PC.

The Magic Inn Released in Early Access
Fancy running a magical tavern where ghosts are regulars and spells help with the washing up? Magic Inn looks like a charming blend of fantasy and hospitality, now available in Early Access on PC via Steam for $14.99, with a 10% launch discount if you’re quick.
You’ll play as an exiled wizard-turned-innkeeper, juggling everything from crafting menus and hiring staff to building relationships with guests who might just join you on expeditions. It’s a game that mixes cosy inn-keeping with deck-building card battles, magical upgrades, and even a dash of romance.
Rooms can be tailored to suit your clientele and you’ll unlock spells to help with chores so you can focus on bonding with your regulars. It looks like the game’s quirky mechanics and warm tone make it feel like a colourful, story-rich experience.
Want a peek at the magical chaos? The Magic Inn – Official Early Access Launch Trailer shows off spellcasting, inn design, and guest interactions.

Major Update For Fate of Fire: Kyvedy Guardiah
Remember Fate of Fire: Kyvedy Guardiah? The game that was released last year on Steam and now has a major update called Dawn of Guardiah. In Fate of Fire, you follow the journey of the Nine protagonists, helped by the mysterious Kyvedy Fire, while they battle Death and Destiny to find a way to save their world in this Old Style action RPG sprinkled with a “Zelda vibe”.

Nice news in the Indie Direct: Go-Go Town is coming to Switch in the Spring of 2026. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the game on Steam, where it’s been through several updates and expansions (read Margaret’s review here).
