Sometimes, all you want is a peaceful game that lets you unwind and create something lovely, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in Coloring Cats: Sports with Friends. Our favourite Mens Sana Interactive characters, Buddy & Lucky, take us along in this charming pixel-art colouring experience by numbers that’s all about friendship, sports, and sweet, quiet moments.
Colouring by Numbers
The idea behind Coloring Cats: Sports with Friends is simple but satisfying: the images are already there, and it’s your job to bring them to life, one pixel at a time. The pixels are numbered, and with a colouring palette that matches the numbers, you have to put the right colour to the right number.

Each character begins as a silhouette, and as you fill them in with colour-by-number tools, the full picture comes to life. There’s no rush, no pressure, and best of all, your progress is saved, even if you leave one image halfway and start another. And you don’t have to complete one scene to start the next, whatever takes your fancy!
Handy features in the sidebar, like the Eye (to show where to colour) and Lock (to protect completed parts) make the whole process even more user-friendly, whatever your play-style.

Sports Themed Snapshots with Familiar Characters
There are 10 sports-themed snapshots filled with, in total, over 60 characters to colour in, revealing swimmers, fencers, and more, both human and animal. Especially considering the price, this means you’ll get many hours of relaxing gameplay.

What makes this colouring game special is the familiar Mens Sana Interactive feeling: the images you colour might be familiar if you have played any of their hidden cats games and jigsaw puzzles or the game Little Inner Monsters.
Graphics, Soundtrack and Controls
The pixel art looks nice and vibrant. Each scene bursts with personality once completed, and the animations and character designs are full of charm.
The soundtrack consists of the tracks from the various Mens Sana Interactive Games that I mentioned, letting you fast forward or track back when you want. You can even check or uncheck which soundtracks you want, making your own playlist. It creates an upbeat background without getting in the way. A lovely detail that adds just a bit more polish to an already thoughtful experience.

I’ve played Coloring Cats: Sports with Friends on my Steam Deck. And though it runs fine, you have to colour the pixels by moving the touchpad of the Steam Deck and pressing ZR to confirm. That feels fiddly, and I think the game will be better played with a mouse (as a bonus, Buddy might like that!)
Conclusion for Coloring Cats
Coloring Cats: Sports with Friends is the kind of game you can come back to for just a few minutes or get lost in for a cozy afternoon. It’s ideal for when you need something gentle, repetitive in the best way, and wonderfully low-stress.
It has the Mens Sana Interactive signature characters and thoughtful additions like the playlist. You really get a lot for your money!
Although the game does work on the Steam Deck, it is better played using a mouse. Or maybe, in future, on the Nintendo Switch?
Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up![]()
