Nintendo Switch Firmware 9.0.0 Now Available
Firmware 9.0.0 is now available for Nintendo Switch. Sadly, Switch still lacks folder support, but at least players can now send and view online play invites from other players. If your system firmware hasn’t automatically updated, then the firmware can be updated via the systems menu. Changes in firmware 9.0.0 include:

- A [new] “Display QR Code to Check In” Settings. You can display a QR Code on-screen to check in using your Nintendo Account.
- A [New] Alarm Notification optionYou can check or delete pre-set alarms.
- Alarms can be set up only within supported software (to be added at a later time).
- A controller firmware update may be required to use this feature.
- The ability to configure touch screen sensitivity settings.Select between Standard and Stylus sensitivity (optimized for stylus input).
- The option to turn on/off the system button input (Nintendo Switch Lite only). When this setting is turned off the system no longer receives input from the console buttons, with the exception of the Capture and HOME Buttons, and can only be operated from a wirelessly paired controller (sold separately).
- This setting is on by default and can only be turned off if a compatible controller (sold separately) is wirelessly paired to the console.
- The setting will automatically turn back on when the console is restarted or after returning from sleep mode.
- A new “Online Play Invites” section to the User’s page.Invites from friends to join online play in supported software will be displayed in this section.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.Resolved an issue where some users can’t start the Fire Emblem: Three Houses game and get an error instead.”
There’s more!
The home button LED light on both the right Joy-Con and Pro-Controller now acts as a notification light. For this to work via your Joy-Con, a Joy-Con controller update is required.
Mable and the Wood Has a Release Date
In Mable and the Wood, players control a resurrected girl, who according to prophecy, is set-apart to save a dying world. The game sounds intriguing because game progress depends on moral choices. According to its Steam page:
“Mable & The Wood is a Metroidvania where you hunt down massive beasts and, upon destroying them, shapeshift into their forms in order to use their powers to save or destroy the world. Players with less violent intent can find secret paths to complete Mable without killing anything, including bosses. “
Nintendo Wins Court Ruling Which Forces UK ISPS to Block Piracy Websites
Nintendo has successfully won a court case that forces UK ISPS to block five websites which link to a product which enables piracy and homebrew functionality on Nintendo Switch. The Product is called SX OS. It works by taking advantage of a security flaw within the Tegra X1 chipset.
In an official statement, Nintendo said:
“Nintendo is pleased that the UK High Court has confirmed that dealing in devices or software that enable piracy on Nintendo Switch systems is unlawful… This decision will help protect the UK games industry and the more than 1800 developers worldwide that create games for the Nintendo Switch platform, and who rely on legitimate sales of games for their livelihood and to keep bringing quality content to gamers.”
Remember, SX OS was previously in the news due to introducing code in an attempt to hinder pirates from pirating their software which is designed to promote and play pirated software. How ironic is that!

You can read more about this game by reading Yvonne’s review here. Evolution is coming to Switch in the New Year.
Eyes of Aya to be released
The second title is puzzle game Eyes of Aya in which you “explore a labyrinthine castle, overcome a plethora of puzzles with logic, deduction, and a menagerie of intriguing items.” Eyes of Aya is due to launch on the eShop on 3rd October.
