A calm and reflective adventure is on the horizon: Go North, the atmospheric maze exploration game from Nigerian solo developer gazuntype, has revealed a release date of 28 July 2026 for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S.
A new demo is also on the way, set to appear during Steam Next Fest from 15 to 22 June, offering another chance to explore its peaceful yet mysterious world. Nintendo Switch players will be able to join the journey at a later date.
A Journey Through Calm And Confusion
In Go North, you follow Dara, a lone explorer searching for the elusive Maze God. Finding him is no simple task, but doing so promises a single wish.
The journey takes you through a series of labyrinthine environments, including dense forests, floating islands in the sky, and unusual, book-lined corridors. Each area offers its own puzzles and pathways, encouraging you to pause, look around, and find your own route forward.
The game leans into themes of feeling lost and searching for direction, presenting them in a calm and accessible way that invites you to slow down.

Tools That Blend Magic And Technology
To help you navigate these worlds, you can discover a range of tools that combine magical and technological ideas.
You might glide through areas on a moth-shaped hoverboard, explore from above in a levitating bubble, or use other inventive solutions to interact with your surroundings. These tools add variety to the puzzles without breaking the game’s relaxed pace.
You can also find hidden Golden Compasses, which unlock additional customisation options such as hats and scarves for Dara.
What To Expect From The New Demo
The upcoming demo introduces four new levels, along with fresh puzzles and side quests. One of the key additions is a new Camera mechanic, which adds another layer to how you engage with the world.
An opening cinematic has also been included, offering a glimpse into the game’s story and setting as you begin your journey.
Soozi Q’s already wrote her impressions of the first demo a while back on LadiesGamers, and in her wrap-up she wrote:
I thought this would be a simple maze game and frankly expected to not enjoy it much. Because of the getting lost all the time thing…..
But I really loved it. There is so much more to Go North than mazes. There is a wide variety of NPCs, animals, plants and things to find. There are quests which I enjoy a lot. I played in single-player mode, but there is also a multiplayer mode.
Last but definitely not least, the game has a beautifully soothing soundtrack which pairs perfectly with the quiet adventure you are on.
A Personal Vision From A Solo Developer
