Gridlink is a simple game with a simple premise: you need to use all the blocks in the grid and touch the numbers in order, starting with 1. The puzzles in Gridlink begin really easy, having you connect 1-9, but then the puzzle becomes much more challenging and much, much bigger.

The Gameplay of Gridlink

Gridlink has a really good tutorial to help you get started. You need to connect the numbers, starting with one, filling in every square, then connecting to two last, as shown in this screenshot below. The tutorial really walks you through each step, making sure you get it without being too hand-holdy. You can even skip these if you don’t want to do them.

Okay, seems easy so far.

To complete a puzzle, you need to make a chain. The chain has to begin with the smallest number, which is always 1, and end at the highest number. You can’t fill in any of the blocks after you have connected to the largest number. When you get the lines all correct, the puzzle turns green, and you can move on to the next one. There are a total of 150 levels and a level generator that will generate unending new puzzles at any level of difficulty you want.

This is pretty fun and simple to learn!

The Pros of Gridlink

Gridlink is simple, intuitive, relaxing, and a lot of fun. It has pleasant, relaxing music, and there is no timer to disturb your groove. There are an unlimited number of puzzles, and you can just keep playing forever. I don’t know what else to say about it; Gridlink is probably the most fun free game I’ve ever played, and if you haven’t tried it, you are missing out.

A little bit harder…

The developer seems really invested in making the game perfect too; there are plenty of updates and version changes, adding things like Dark Mode and better controls. For such a simple game, the developer really seems to be invested in making sure that Gridlink is perfect.

The Cons of Gridlink

I didn’t have any issues with Gridlink myself, but I did notice some of the commenters on this game complaining of lost saves and issues with progression. Since you can play any level in any order you want, or you can just make new ones yourself with the generate game button, I don’t really see this as an actual issue. I’m not sure if this was patched away at some point, but I suppose it’s something to look out for.

Oh no, it’s suddenly very hard…

I did it!

Conclusion

Gridlink is a fun, relaxing puzzle game that is free-to-play and a ton of fun. There’s literally no reason not to play it. It’s a perfect way to wind down. I think the only thing I really want from Gridlink is a mobile version. I didn’t see one, so I don’t think one exists, but that would be a super fun way to play it.

I really like how intuitive and easy it is to get started. Even the hardest of the puzzles don’t feel impossible; they are just challenging. My biggest complaint is how long it took me to notice there actually was a Dark Mode in the menu, which is not the dev’s fault at all, trust me. I can’t recommend this simple puzzle game enough; if you like puzzles, go and download Gridlink right now.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up
