For those that don’t know, I usually spend a lot of time sitting within a local school to support my son who suffers from social anxiety. While there, I decided this week to write a small article highlighting topical news items with the aim to creating conversation for the weekend and possibly beyond. If folk enjoy it, I may be inclined to write more from the belly of the big fish!
The Origins of Breath of the Wild’s Sequel.
Fans were left amazed by the Breath of the Wild sequel announcement which concluded E3. Straight away, fans attempted to dissect every detail from the trailer and the Internet was filled with rumour and speculation. But what were the origins of the upcoming sequel? According to Eiji Aonuma himself, the game’s beginnings stem from the unused ideas developers had while creating DLC for the original game.
In an interview with Kotaku, Mr Aonuma said:
“When we released the DLC for Breath of the Wild, we 87realised that this is a great way to add more elements to the same world. But when it comes down to technical things, DLC is pretty much data–you’re adding data to a pre-existing title… And so when we wanted to add bigger changes, DLC is not enough, and that’s why we thought maybe a sequel would be a good fit.”
Are you happy that Nintendo decided to use additional ideas to create a sequel or would you rather new DLC?
Is this the Switch Mini?
The Internet has been filled with rumours about new Switch revisions in recent weeks. Two supposedly leaked images of the Switch Mini found their way onto the web this week. I’m confused as to which is supposed to be the leaked design, but the black design looks cool. Whether they’re legitimate or not time will tell.
Which image contains your preferred design? I love the look of the black console because it reminds me of the glossy black DS Lite, which remains my favourite console redesign to this day. I must stress however that this is pure speculation so I wouldn’t get too excited!
Animal Crossing New Horizons will not support Cloud Saves.
Animal Crossing fans were left disappointed this week by the news that Nintendo’s latest title in the franchise will not support cloud saves. According to Nintendo, the feature isn’t supported to frustrate time travellers (cheaters). I would love to know how readers, particularly subscribers to Nintendo’s online service, feels about this. Being a primary franchise, with such a strong emphasis on saving progress, the lack of cloud support will be for many a huge disappointment.

Also regarding the game’s delay, Doug Bowser in a recent interview has stated:
“We’re not going to put a game out before we think it’s ready to be enjoyed by fans. In the case of a franchise, like Animal Crossing, that has so many loyal fans, we’d be doing them a disservice if we put out a product that was rushed.” (Source Nintendo Life)
So be calm AC fans! The delay will be worth it.

Gamers looking for indie bargains will be happy to know that Nintendo currently has an up to 80% off Indie sale on the eShop. I highly recommend all to boot up the eShop and check out the list of current offers. The sale offers lots of variety, and our team has previously reviewed a large number of titles.

So that’s it from me! I wish all our readers a fabulous weekend!

I don’t understand the ‘belly of the big fish’/ ‘Whale’ reference. Is that the name of the school?
What do ‘cloud saves’ have to do with ‘frustrating time travelers (cheaters)’?
What is the benefit for them? And what would the benefit of cloud saves be to non cheating people? Just that your saves are more safe?
And if they don’t want people to cheat, why do they add the time travel function? What’s the non cheat way to use it?
I’ll check out if we have sales too!
Hi Ronja, it’s a word play on Jonah and the Big Fish/Whale. I’m sure you’ve heard somewhere about Jonah and the Whale!
Hi Jonah, no, I haven’t heard of it before.
But from a google search I gather it relates to religion, so that probably explains why I don’t know it.
Firstly, the benefit of cloud saves would indeed be that we keep our data more safe. But in Animal Crossing one of the big things is that the game is real time. Miss an event? Miss an appointment you had made with a villager? Bad luck, you can’t go back! In the first games you got to see Reset if you tried to tinker with the time or turn off the power without saving. And let me tell you, he was pretty annoying. Yelling at you, letting you apologise and such. I think they turned off cloud saves to prevent people who want to thinker with time from just accessing an earlier save.
Thanks Yvonne!
I think it’s good to discourage cheating.
I would have liked the extra safety of a cloudsave, but I never had any problems with my normal saves in New Leaf.
