A Monster’s Expedition

(Through Puzzling Exhibitions)
Paula wasn’t scared of the monster in A Monster’s Expedition
A Monster’s Expedition is a delight to play. The solution to some of the puzzles might not click right away. However, when you do find it, it comes with such a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment that it’s hard to describe. A game filled with lots of a-ha moments when the solution pops into your head.
This is a must-play game for puzzle fans. A Monster’s Expedition is one of the best puzzle games I’ve played this year. I definitely recommend exploring the open-world museum of EnglandLand!

A Juggler’s Tale

Lead Abby the string puppet through a grim fairy tale world, while you solve riddles, evade traps, and shake off pursuers.
Paula didn’t get tangled when she played A Juggler’s Tale:
A Juggler’s Tale certainly ticks all my boxes as a gamer. A good story, wonderful artwork, sound effects and music. The story of a young girl taking her destiny into her own hands in a bid for freedom, it is full of empowerment and hope. It’s also about persevering and continually trying to move forward with her dreams when all else fails.
I wholeheartedly recommend you play A Juggler’s Tale, and let it give your heartstrings a pull.

Cloud Gardens

In Cloud Gardens, you harness the healing power of nature to overgrow urban decay within wasteland dioramas.
Paula was on cloud nine playing Cloud Gardens:
Cloud Gardens is a chill, charming experience to play. The music adds to the relaxing gameplay. Finishing each diorama and moving on to the next brings such a sense of satisfaction. Cloud Gardens isn’t just a game it also encourages its players to be mindful of what is around them. To de-stress, chill out while also being creative and having fun!

Crown Trick

Enter a labyrinth that moves as you move, where mastering the elements is key to defeating enemies and uncovering mysteries of this underground world.
Paula went royal for Crown Trick
You can see the love the developers have put into the game while your playing it. Yes, some areas do become repetitive as most games do at some stage. However, Crown Trick has all the right elements to make it a fantastic dungeon crawler.
A good indicator for me of how much I like or love a game when I’m writing a review is that by the time I get to the conclusion to have my last say, I’m busting to finish it off so I can go and play. And that is how I feel about Crown Trick, it has ticked all the right dungeon crawler boxes for me! It’s a wonderful game, with its turn-based combat, where each move is full of possibilities and each battle is a challenge.

Dave The Diver

Dive by day! Serve by night! The best diving, harpooning, action-adventuring, and sushi restaurant managing experience you’ll ever have.
James took the plunge reviewing Dave The Diver
Dave the Diver is a wonderful dip into the ocean. For me, this was the game that kept on giving. With so many options during gameplay, I could not honestly cite a point where I felt bored. Dives were wonderous with plenty to explore and seek, whether it was finding new fish or discovering something sinister in the depths. Running the restaurant was also much more fun than I expected, far from a throw-away mini-game but an in-depth management sim. Either of these two elements of gameplay would make a great game but on top of all that, you have all the little surprises that make this something I could not recommend enough.
Like my best friend Dave, Dave the Diver is fantastic.

DREDGE

A single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent.
James braved the eerie waters in DREDGE
My favourite aspect of DREDGE is this is just a great game to chill to. After a long hard day at my real-life job, taking on the life of a fisherman proved to be quite cathartic. I had just as much fun spending sessions fishing, turning in my catches, and gradually upgrading my ship, as opposed to making progress in the game’s narrative.
I didn’t feel rushed and was happy to take in the experience wherever my mood took me. Of course, it’s only fair this design won’t appeal to every gamer. Some might find the pacing slow or the gameplay repetitive. For me, the tackle reeled me in and never let go. DREDGE is the most fun I have had in a fishing game to date, and it gets my highest recommendation.
There are various editions and DLCs, but not all of them are on sale.

Escape from Mystwood Mansion

Experience a first-person escape room adventure in the mysterious Mystwood mansion. Solve puzzles, crack codes, and uncover hidden secrets to escape!
Did I Escape from Mystwood Mansion?
Escape From Mystwood Mansion is an extremely satisfying and well-rounded puzzle adventure. There is a good mix of puzzles and codes to decipher, varying in difficulty, but with the built-in hint system, nothing is frustrating.
For anyone who enjoys escape room scenarios, then Escape From Mystwood Mansion will surely be a winner.
There’s a guide to make sure you can escape as well!

FAR: Changing Tides

An atmospheric vehicle adventure that follows the emotional journey of a boy and his ship as he embarks on a voyage to find a new home. Sail stormy waters, dive unknown depths, and explore forgotten ruins in a beautifully realised, flooded world.
Paula set sail to review FAR: Changing Tides
FAR: Changing Tides is a relaxing, thought-provoking and satisfying trek through a dystopian and atmospheric world. If exploring every nook and cranny is your “thing”, then look no further as you will find it all in FAR: Changing Tides. Now if you’d excuse me, I’m off to buy the first game in the series from the eShop.
FAR: Lone Sails is also on sale for less than a couple of dollars.

It Takes Two

We’re Better Together
It Takes Two took top spot when James reviewed it
If you have someone else to play with I can not recommend this game enough. Heck this is a game I would go as far as to say it’s worth getting a console or PC for. The game pushes video games forward in the right direction and it’s a darn shame others haven’t taken note of this. A wholesome co-op experience that is guaranteed to entertain.
No DLC, no microtransactions, no exp, no bugs and utter gaming rubbish we so often see in games these days, just a good video game.
It Takes Two is not just one of the best games I’ve played this year. It’s one of the best video game experiences I have ever had, period.

LEGO Bricktales

In LEGO® Bricktales, discover an innovative brick-by-brick building mechanic to design puzzle solutions from your own imagination. See your creations brought to life in a beautiful LEGO world where every problem has a constructive resolution.
LEGO games are always a favourite here a LadiesGamers, and LEGO Bricktales didn’t disappoint Paula:
LEGO Bricktales is suitable for all ages to play; children and adults alike will love being able to play with LEGO bricks in the game. The story is charming; I really enjoyed it. In addition, each diorama is unique; brightly coloured and full of LEGO bricks. The puzzles are very enjoyable and challenging. The game encourages you to be creative, especially in the sandbox mode. I like the freedom the game offers in the puzzles, as there isn’t just one way to solve a puzzle. It’s great fun thinking outside the box and finding your own solution to the puzzles.

My Aunt is a Witch

‘My Aunt is a Witch’ is a Visual Novel full of adventures and quests in the world of magic
My Aunt is a Witch cast a spell on Paula:
My Aunt is a Witch is a very entertaining, and thoroughly fun visual novel. A story of a young boy who finds some adventure and magic in his world to replace an unfortunate turn to his life.
Visual novels are not really my go-to genre, My Aunt is a Witch is the second visual novel I have reviewed for LadiesGamers. And I must say if there where more VN’s like this one on the Nintendo Switch I’d be making a few purchases on the eShop! As for fans of this genre, I can recommend My Aunt is a Witch to add to your collection.

Planet of Lana

Welcome to an off-earth odyssey.!
Kalina journeyed through the Steam version of Planet of Lana
In conclusion, Planet of Lana is one of the best games I’ve played recently. It is clear that for Thunderful Publishing, it was a labour of love, from the premise to animation, world lore, music, and sounds. Even more impressive, the whole game studio was created around this project, and this game is their first. Based on PoL, they have a bright future ahead of them.

Railbound

Railbound is a comfy, track-bending puzzle game about a pair of dogs on a train journey around the world.
Paula went all aboard with Railbound
Railbound is just my kind of game, with challenging levels that require some thought, and it’s also relaxing as there isn’t a timer. It has all the right ingredients to make it a brilliant puzzle game with a sweet storyline. First, place the track connections so that carriages safely connect to the locomotive, then sit back and watch the little carriages chug along the track to join the engine and be amazed at your brilliance in solving the puzzle. Mind the gap!

Röki

Every dark fairytale has its monster.
Paula immersed herself in Scandinavian folklore with Röki
It is obvious from playing Röki that developers Polygon Treehouse want you to enjoy the puzzles and adventuring gameplay. However, it’s done in such a way as not to distract you from the story.
A story is full of Scandinavian folklore intertwined with a tale of a broken family being held together by Tove’s determination, courage and spirit. All of which transforms the experience into something lasting and memorable for the player.

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town

Shin chan starts a mysterious daily routine, traveling between two worlds: the Village in Akita and Coal Town.
Yvonne helped uncover the mysteries in Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town
Truly, I hadn’t expected to like Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town as much as I do. I was never a big fan of the little boy when my daughter wanted to watch the anime many years ago, so I was a bit sceptical. But I have really warmed up to him, even though he is still a strange little boy.
The game is full of details, little adventures and bigger mysteries. Some of the interactions made me smile, and I was never left frustrated or in a rush. I took my time uncovering it all, and it was a grand journey. This is a serious contender for my Game of the Year 2024!
Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is not for gamers who want to be bowled over by fast-paced action or striving for bigger and better goals. Instead, this is a game to curl up with on the couch and see Shin chan’s world with a kind of childlike wonder. If you want to know more about this game, don’t miss our interview with Akira Nagashima, the producer of the game.
Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey- is also on sale, as well as a double bundle, so check out which deal is the best for you.

TOEM

A photo adventure
TOEM clicked with Mina:
I love this game. I love TOEM so much. It’s sweet, adorable, funny and full of fun and interesting NPCs to meet and take photos of. The world may be in black and white, but it’s lovingly detailed and wonderfully rendered. The music is wonderful and there are a lot of thoughtful details to make players love it even more. Two thumbs up for TOEM!

Treehouse Riddle

A tale of small memories that unfolds with riddles of inspiration and puzzles of logic
Elena puzzled her way through Treehouse Riddle
You don’t have to be a logic puzzle buff to enjoy this. For a game with such challenging puzzles, Treehouse Riddle does a fantastic job of offering assistance to players who need it. The hint system is great, the presentation is solid, and the overall execution is polished. So even though I didn’t enjoy some puzzles (math riddles just aren’t my cup of tea), I can’t help but give this Two Thumbs Up.
