Little Sim World: Steam to Switch?

Frequently, we take a look at what games are already available on Steam to see if they meet our requirements of being a good wholesome game. Plus, we browse the Kickstarter pages to find hidden gems.

Having found games that really interest us, Paula gives it a spin on Steam to see if it’s our cup of tea. And then we then keep my fingers crossed and hope it will make the jump to the Switch somewhere in the future. Because although the Switch has some awesome wholesome and simulation games available already, as far as I’m concerned, there’s always room for more!

Recently we came across Little Sim World. A game that isn’t available on Steam yet, but it is scheduled for early access in early 2021. It looks very interesting, even though it’s to early to tell if it will make it to the Switch. Time to take a look!

Little Sim World in London

Now I must admit that I’ve never found much fun in playing the Sims on my laptop. Partly because I’m not a PC gamer, partly because I always felt that just when we were finally getting somewhere, my Sim had to use the bathroom. Now many fans of the game series, like my daughter, will say I never really gave it a chance, and maybe they are right. Dunno, it just didn’t stick.

But when I found information on Little Sim World, it looked interesting. Very interesting. It takes place in a city I love, London, with streets bustling full of cars, NPCs and all sorts of cute little shops. Plus, just look at the artwork for the character design that’s on the website…consider me sold. The detailing looks lovely and so accurate to the real London. The Oyster card, pound coins. And loads of customisation.

Artwork on the Little Sim World website

Little Sim World is an indie Open World 2D Life Simulator with RPG and multiplayer elements that has been in development since early 2019 for the PC. Little Sim World is designed by Terry Jin with the help of a few friends who have a passion for the Sims genre. It is unique in design, but also takes much inspiration from the likes of The SimsAnimal Crossing, Stardew Valley and Pokemon.

Gameplay as a Little Sim

So what is there to do in Little Sim World? This list of the gameplay is on the website:

  • Create the house of your dreams: Decorate, buy furniture and upgrade your house!
  • Discover yourself: Develop your personality and re-imagine yourself in London ^_^
  • Start a career: Chase after the career of your dreams – the possibilities are endless ~
  • Fall in love: Meet someone new and find your significant other!
  • An open-world: No loading screens – visit anywhere you want!
  • Cars, buses and the underground: Want to get around faster? Travel how you want!
  • Weather and different seasons: Every day is slightly different!
  • Play with others (optional!): Share a room with your friend! Why play alone?

Little Sims London will offer a wide variety of activities for you to take part in. For example, you can stop by the neighborhood Star-Coffee shop for an afternoon snack and maybe meet some new people who you can be-friend.

It will be up to you (and the size of your in-game wallet) how you get around the city. Go by foot but whenever you want to get somewhere fast you can hop on the city bus for a cheap and faster way to get around town. But if you have earned enough money, you can even get a car which can be customized and used to drive around the city.

Funding Through Patreon

Usually, we feature a Kickstarter campaign for games that are developed by small teams looking for funding. Not this time. Terry Jin turned to Patreon to get his funding together. You pay an amount of your choice to support the project, or to get a free copy of the game after a set amount of months of patronage.

A novel idea to find funding this way, and one that seems to work too (with 1,115 patrons at this moment). If you want to check out his Patron Page, you can find it here.

Below you’ll find the trailer for the game so you can see what Terry’s vision for the game is:
